Region
• There are five regions in the state of Missouri– Glaciated Tilt Plains• Located in the northern part of Missouri. Was created
by large glaciers of ice. This region has rolling hills and flat plains. It also includes rich farm lands that is used to grow corn and soybeans.
– Osage Plains• This region is part of the Great Plains of America. It is
very flat and coal mining is very important here.

Region– Ozark Highlands• This region has steep hills and very rocky soil. It is the
largest region in the state. Tourism is a large part os the economy. It is known for its scenic beauty, rugged hills, caves, lakes, springs, rivers, and forests.
– Mississippi Lowlands• The “Bootheel” of Missouri. This region used to be a
snake filled swamp. It is known for its black soil. Cotton, rice, and soy beans are grown here.
– Alluvial River Plains• This region is located along the Missouri and Mississippi
rivers. Kansas City and St. Louis are located in this region.

Relationships within Places
• There is plenty of farm land that is used to grow corn and soybeans.
• The people living in Missouri modify their environment by heating and cooling building for comfort through the seasons.
• People adapt to the environment by wearing appropriate clothing during winter and summer months.
• People depend on the environment to coal mine in the Osage Plains Region.

airport hubs located in Kansas City and St. Louis.
• Two of the nations busiest railway centers are located in Missouri.
• Many cities have regular fixed-route bus systems.
