How to face your
first interview
1. Your CV
Make sure you check CV for spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Keep it short and to the point and use good quality paper to print it.
2. Be prepared
Take copies of your CV and all relevant documents, certificates.
Make sure that they match the information on your CV and cover letter.
3. Dress impress
Being well dressed and looking your best will give your self-confidence.
Ladies, it is always advisable to dress conservatively. A simple sari or, well-cut suit.
Guys should dress in crisp white shirts and conservative ties
4. Mind your mannersGreet the interviewers politely and wait
until you are asked to seated
Smile and make sure that your handshake is firm.
Don’t forget to say “thank you” and please.
5. Body Language
Speak louder, Walk in with confidence and poise.
Maintain eye-contact and remain professional in posture.
Sit up straight and control nervous habits such as biting your nails or fidgeting
6. Be positive
Never present a negative experience.
Be prepared for questions like “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
Answer questions with more than just a “yes” or “no”, Speak clearly about your skills, knowledge and abilities.
7. Do your homeworkStudy the company and the sector they
are operating in and the job you’re applying for.
Being able to ask relevant questions will put you ahead.
8. When leaving
Do not be afraid to ask when you will know their decision.
Leave the room in positive and point manner.
Always remember to thank your interviewers for their time.
9. Waiting for resultsWhile you wait to hear the results of
your interview, do apply for other suitable jobs.
