City Campus Map The Symposium will be held at Supméca - Institut Supérieur de Mécanique de Paris.
The Supmeca-Paris campus is located at Saint-Ouen. The city of Saint-Ouen is situated in the northeast of Paris. Together with its neighbouring towns of Paris, they form a single, diverse and extremely vibrant visitor destination and conference venue. It has a world-class culture, vibrant nightlife, award-wining restaurants, renowned museums like the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay, inspiring heritage and architecture such as the Eiffel tower and the Champs Elysées, including fantastic accommodation facilities and shopping complexes.

Chairs’ Message It is not surprising that in recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the
developments of environmentally friendly energy technologies and systems. This is mainly
due to the general awareness and recognition that fossil fuels used to generate power over
the past two centuries are exhaustible, and not totally benign in usage, two of the major side
effects being acid rain and global warming.
It is in response to this renewed interest in clean energy that International Symposium on
Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA) was put into place. The 1st EFEA
event was held in Ghardaïa, Algeria in 2010. The 2nd edition of the symposium, EFEA2012,
was held at Northumbria University at Newcastle upon Tyne, with a broader scope of topics.
This 3rd Edition of EFEA 2014 follows the path of the last edition of EFEA by including topics
such as energy policy and security, biofuel, geothermal energy as well as lifelong learning and
professional development in renewable energy. Hosted by SupMeca at Saint-Ouen, Paris - in
collaboration with several other Universities. EFEA2014 aims to bring academics, scientists,
engineers and industrial partners together to discuss the recent developments in the areas of
environment friendly energies and their applications.
We hope you will enjoy the conference and take some time to visit the city of Paris with its
inspiring artistic heritage, architecture, cafes and restaurants.
With best wishes,
Prof. Mohamed DJEMAI, General Chair EFEA 2014
Prof. Jean Yves CHOLEY, Chair EFEA 2014

Invited Speakers Michel Fliess developed several algebraic tools in control. Let us mention here his discovery of "flat" nonlinear (joint work with J. Lévine, P. Martin and P. Rouchon from the "Ecole des Mines de Paris") which had and still has many industrial applications, and his quite recent approach to estimation and parameter identification (joint work with H. Sira-Ramirez from CINVESTAV (Mexico City) and C. Join from the "Université de Lorraine"), which is more and more utilized all over the world. He got several prizes from the French Academy of Sciences, from the CNRS, and from the "Ecole polytechnique".
