Lifting Of The Veil Danny Ford
Artist Statement
We live in a time where climate change is something that often graces the media. We see it on the news, hear it on the radio and read about it in the papers. It is widely accepted that we are having a detrimental effect on our planet and thus our survival.
In my work I attempt to hint at possibilities for our future by look-ing at objects that have been discarded and left to decay. From these, we get hints of a life after people. Within my work there is an appreciation for an apocalyptic view of our future.
Richard Misrach and Stuart Franklin are two artists that inform my current practice. Their use of photography to convey the issues that I am interested in has been an invaluable source in develop-ing my work.

Leybourne Grange:
Leybourne Grange is the place that I have used as research in creat-ing my works, It speaks in many ways of the ideas and themes that I look to within my work.
Opened in 1936 it sits in 270 acres of land, and was used as a mental health unit. In the early 90’s it started to be decommissioned and in the late 90’s after completion Leybourne was left to decay.
The photo’s that follow explore this decay in relation to the possi-bilities of our future, an apocalyptic view that we will no doubt face.
