Following the failed 1798 rebellion, the English, in the year imposed on
Ireland, what they called the "Act of Union". The Irish Republican started to plan for a Rising. They began by setting up a council. Initially the council was made up of Plunkett, Pádraig , and Eamonn Ceannt, who were later joined by Séan Mac Diarmada, Thomas Clarke, Thomas Mac Donagh and James . Monday the 24th of April the is read out at the GPO. On Saturday the 29th of April, Pearse signs the notice. All the to the Proclamation were executed by firing squad.
