Future Ferry Repair Site
Alameda Point Site of Proposed Ferry Repair FacilityAt its November 2009 meeting, the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) approved a $200,000 contract for design and engineering of a new facility at Alameda Point. The Central Bay Operations and Maintenance Facility will service ferries operated by WETA.
The Alameda City Council has given a nod of approval to enter into a 65-year lease agreement with WETA and is awaiting the contract papers. The facility will bring $58,000 per year in lease revenue to the general fund.
