1) Questions for women 15-49 years of age: Knowledge of the practice (FG1, FG2) If FGM/C has happened to her (FG3) Type of procedure: if flesh was removed, nicked without
removing flesh, sewn closed (FG4, FG5, FG6) Performer: traditional performer, health personnel (FG7)
2) Questions for FGM/C of daughters: Numbers of daughters circumcised (FG9) Last daughter circumcised (FG10) Type of procedure (FG11, FG12, FG13) Age of circumcision (FG 14) Performer: traditional performer, health personnel (FG15)
3) Attitudes regarding the continuation of the practice (FG16)

Number of women aged 15-49 reporting they had any form of genital mutilation/cutting

Prevalence of extreme formof FGM/C
Numerator:
Number of women aged 15-49 reporting they had an extreme form of genital mutilation/cutting (infibulation)
Denominator:
Total number of women aged 15-49 surveyed
Approval for FGM/C
Numerator:
Number of women aged 15-49 favoring the continuation of female genital mutilation/cutting
Denominator:

Methodological issues
• Extreme form of FGM/C (infibulation) is defined as both the removal of flesh from the genital area and sewing closed the genital area
• The column “not determined” is for those women who respond that they/their daughters had been circumcised, but then do not respond 'yes' to any of the three following questions concerning the type of FGM
