UNITROL® Life Cycle ManagementMaximize your investment
ABB has many years of experience with Excitation Systems,
and we have serviced units all across North America. With the
vast experience accumulated, we have created a special service
program in order to detect, prevent and fix the most common
problems that might cause your Excitation System to fail.
ABB encourages preventive--not corrective--maintenance,
because the latter is more expensive. Budget-driven decisions
might be the reason to delay certain maintenance but
according to our experience, you might end up spending more
if only corrective actions are taken. Therefore, we emphasize
continuous maintenance to reduce the potential negative
impact on your operations.
As manufacturers of Excitation Systems, we are pleased to offer
you the following services:
Technical Support ServiceOur telephone support provides reliable 24-hour access to ABB
resources who understand the urgency and importance of your
request. Each call is effi ciently routed to an appropriate Excitation
expert who will personally follow your request to resolution.
Benefi ts • Fast support case resolution
• Emergency call support 24/7 at 1-800-665-8222
• Reduced downtime and loss of generation
Field Service and Emergency Site WorkABB is always ready to help. In the event that technical support over
the phone is not suffi cient to fi x the issue, rest assured that we have
the largest dedicated service group in North America to support you
on-site.
Whether you need scheduled fi eld service or an emergency site visit,
you can count on ABB 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Customer TrainingA skilled and efficient workforce is your most valuable asset. We
can help increase your workforce skill levels and knowledge to
ensure optimal system operation. Our training programs for
plant engineers, maintenance and operations personnel provide
comprehensive technical expertise for your Excitation System.
Training is available at ABB training facilities or locally at your
plant site.
Benefits • Improved technical skills
• Increased knowledge of the Excitation System
• More-effective troubleshooting
Performance ReviewTake advantage of your scheduled outages during the year in order
to benefi t from ABB’s specialized performance review program. It’s a
complete review of the exciters with online and offl ine testing, that
can be tailored according to your specifi c needs. An ABB service
engineer will visit your power plant to evaluate the systems and
provide preventive maintenance. In addition, we will review your
inventory of spare parts and recommend what to keep in stock in
order to reduce the risk of shutdowns during emergencies.
After the visit is completed, you will get a complete report with
recommendations. Many of our satisfi ed customers in the USA,
Canada and Mexico have benefi ted from a Performance Review and
continue to have it on a regular basis.
Spare Parts and Repair ServicesHaving spare parts is key to your ongoing operations. We know that
having a unit down represents signifi cant fi nancial losses and
additional stress to the system operators; consequently, we
encourage you to review your stock and make sure that you are
covered.
