GPA Why should we talk about GPA now?
How do you calculate average (mean)?
As freshmen, you have a clean slate. Your GPA is completely up to you. Start with a high GPA and you put yourself in position to keep it that way. If you start with a low GPA, it will be harder to overcome. The more time you spend in school, the more fixed your GPA is

Tips for achieving academic success
Pick ONE of the list items below and discuss with the person next to you. Take notes to share with the rest of the class

Extra-curricular activities
Give students time to discuss with a partner or in groups. Assign one of the list items and have them take notes to share with the class. When students share, fill in any missed tips from the handbook as necessary
Extra curricular activities research shows that students who are involved in a club or sport tend to have higher GPAs than other students. Also, you can create study groups and friendships across grade-levels, coaches can act as mentors, it can help you feel part the school in an important way
