Lesson Outcomes
By the end of the lesson the learners will be able to:
1. Name and explain the three business sectors, in their own words.2. Identify the various industries into primary, secondary and tertiary.3. Give examples of each of the business sectors.
4. Draw a labelled flow diagram that shows the various sectors (stages) the product went through before it reached the final consumer.

Exposition 2 The teacher will explain the classifications of the various industries into primary, secondary and tertiary to the learners.

Learners ( in their groups) will with the help of their textbooks explain the seven auxiliary services.

Teacher will divide learners into small groups (2) each group will be given 2 auxiliary services to explain to the class. See Annexure B
Internalization 2 Teacher will ask learners to list the different sectors with examples of each industry.
Teacher will show learners pictures with examples of different sectors and ask them to identify and classify each. ( whole class discussion) See annexure C1
Learners will tell the teacher in which sector they believe each of the examples fall. Textbooks closed.

1. The three business sectors are: Primary sector- it deals with the extraction and cultivation of raw materials needed to produce/manufacture a product. The secondary sector- this sector is responsible for processing and manufacturing of the raw materials obtained from the primary sector into finished or semi-finished products. The tertiary sector- also sometimes referred to as the service sector, performs the role of bringing the products from the secondary sector to the end consumers.

Each learner within the class will receive an example of the auxiliary services: Transport, Storage, and Sorting, Grading and standardisation, Financing, Insurance and Actual sales and will be tasked with explaining to the class what that actually means or what they understand under each.

1. The primary sector, businesses in this sector get their raw materials directly from natural resources. For example: fishing, forestry, farming and mining. Secondary sector- process raw material. Factories that can fruit, furniture manufacturing. Tertiary sector-provide all the various services that together make it possible to deliver products from the secondary sector to producers to the end consumer. Example: wholesalers, retailers.
