Evaporation Process
Evaporation is a thermal separation process,widely used for concentration of liquids inthe form of solutions, suspensions, andemulsions. Concentration is accomplishedby boiling out a solvent, normally water, from
the liquid. In most cases, concentrateresulting from the evaporation process is thefinal product. Sometimes, however, theevaporated, volatile component is also amain product, as, for example, duringsolvent recovery.

A major requirement of the evaporationprocess is to maintain the quality of theliquid during evaporation and to avoid heat
damage to the concentrate. This normallynecessitates exposing the liquid to thelowest possible boiling temperature for theshortest period of time. Protectingconcentrate quality and other physicalrequirements of the finished product haveresulted in development of many differentevaporator types. Additional demands forenergy efficiency and minimal impact on theenvironment have driven developmenttoward innovative evaporation processsoftware designs.
