operations, engaging with employees
and stakeholders to unite our skills,
generate shared value and help
to achieve the United Nations’
Sustainable Development Goals.
Our efforts from last year are
integrated into this report. It aims to
elaborate on our targets and activities
both internally and externally,
thus uniting all stakeholders in
contributing to our zero-carbon

The Group’s Commitments
A sustainable zero-carbon transition
For many years, the development of renewables has been
an important growth driver for ENGIE. Thanks to its 2015-
2018 transformation program, the Group has repositioned
its business model to respond to the demand for both
the generation of decarbonized energy that helps combat
global warming, and new energy services. The Group also
pays particular attention to preserving natural resources
and reducing the impact of its activities on biodiversity.
A zero-carbon transition that serves everyone
Territories are a cornerstone of the zero-carbon
transition. From urban heating and cooling systems, green
mobility and smart grids to lighting and safety systems,
ENGIE offers innovative, bespoke solutions to invent the
cities of the future and improve the well-being of their
inhabitants. Since access to energy is an integral part of
its societal responsibility, ENGIE provides technical or
financial support to many projects around the world. The
Group also adopts a responsible purchasing approach
aimed at promoting ethical management in its supplier
relations when managing its supply chain.
A zero-carbon transition for the future
To support and anticipate profound changes in consumer expectations, the
Group takes a global approach to investment, incubation or exchange
with local ecosystems. Its experts use innovative technologies and digital
solutions to devise new offers, optimize production costs and improve
energy performance.
A competitive zero-carbon transition
As a leader in the zero-carbon transition, the Group
creates the conditions for healthy, sustainable growth.
After its strategic repositioning, the Group’s operational
performance and its organic growth show the robust
nature of its model. This sustainable economic
development is part of a tradition of transparency and
corporate ethics at every level of the Group’s operation.
A zero-carbon transition that brings people together
ENGIE’s many businesses employ more than 160,300 staff on a daily
basis. Their health, their safety at work, their commitment
and their career within the Group are priorities that are fundamental
to joint success, and are constantly monitored. In addition,
stakeholders as a whole are seen as partners in building the Group’s
sustainable development, and as such are frequently consulted.
Our Ambition: Become the World Leader in the Zero-
carbon Transition as a Service
ENGIE’s 2020 CSR goals, in addition to various environmental or societal commitments
made by the ENGIE Group, contribute to achieving both the Group’s corporate project
and United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. In terms of its
activities, ENGIE has identified nine main SDGs to which it contributes.

Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2019
ENGIE China CSR: A Strategic Approach
The zero-carbon transition is first and foremost a revolution in our ways of
working and living. Through the CSR policies, we are committed to strategies
and practices that contribute to the harmony of society while optimizing value
creation.
We aim to provide our customers with solutions that
speed up their zero-carbon transition while remaining
attentive to needs and constraints within their
ecosystem.
ENGIE China has consolidated its activities to focus on
two main sectors: clean energy and solutions to cities
and territories.
Transforming the Corporate Strategy with Social Purposes
Clean Energy
In China, ENGIE is committed to
making positive and responsible
contributions to an evolving
energy landscape, while solving
environmental and social challenges.
We are actively participating in the
development of clean and renewable
energy. ENGIE China ensures that the
Group's CSR goal of minimizing our
carbon footprint is respected at the
local level.
ENGIE China strives to develop
its solar PV assets and has made
substantial progress. ENGIE has
become the sole owner of Ningbo
Sennuo Investment Co., Ltd., after it
acquired the remaining 50 percent
of the company’s shares in August
2019. The transaction made Sennuo
become ENGIE’s first wholly-owned
onshore investment platform in
China. The full ownership of Sennuo
represents an opportunity to further
tap into the world’s biggest and most
promising renewable energy market.
It demonstrates the ambition of
ENGIE to be the world leader in cost-
efficient zero-carbon transition ‘as a
service’.
Through Sennuo, ENGIE China
successfully closed the transaction
of 28 operational distributed rooftop
PV assets, serving green power to 28
factories of Wahaha Group, China’s
No.1 food & beverage manufacturing
enterprise. The total installed capacity
is around 55 MW, composed of 24
subprojects located in 22 cities in 16
provinces.

With a total annual electricity
generation of more than 60 million
kWh, the project will cover 80
percent of Wahaha Group’s power
consumption of 28 factories in China,
which will fulfill Wahaha Group’s
societal commitment to become a
“Green and Smart Manufacturer”.
This project is one of the largest
distributed rooftop PV initiatives
in the world, and it confirms ENGIE
Group’s strategy towards both
decarbonization and decentralization.
10
ENGIE China
11
Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2019
Considering the number of
subprojects across different regions,
the project provides ENGIE the
opportunity to launch energy storage
and service solutions, and green
certificate trading to prepare for the
future. ENGIE will be positioned as a
comprehensive energy provider for
our clients across China.
Through its global energy
management solutions in China, ENGIE
signed an agreement with L’Oréal
China for the long-term assignment
of environmental attributes (Green
Rights) in order to support the carbon
neutralization strategy of L’Oréal
China. This agreement confirms
ENGIE’s leading position in delivering
zero-carbon transition services to its
customers. It once again shows our
commitment to make the energy mix
cleaner, while acting on CSR principles
when doing business.
We are also investing in key
companies to promote the
development of clean energy, notably
the UNISUN Energy Group, a clean
energy solutions provider in China.
We have supported UNISUN in the
field of PV business’ development,
ownership, operation, as well as
smart energy management. With our
support, the company has managed
to provide stable and reliable clean
energy solutions for customers
around the world, including many
Fortune 500 enterprises.
Sennuo has also facilitated ENGIE
China’s partnership with Unilever,
one of the world’s leading consumer
goods providers, to serve green
distributed solar PV energy to
Unilever’s logistics and industrial
park, as part of the two corporations’
cooperation in the development of
renewable energy. The total installed
capacity is 9.7 MW, composed of
two operating rooftop PV assets. This
project will enable ENGIE to establish
direct connections with customers
and lay the foundation for providing
integrated energy services in the
future.
ENGIE invents new solutions for
cities and territories in order to
enable people to live in a better, and
healthier environment.
We are excited to co-create solutions
with decision-makers and developers
to design better cities – smart
communities of the future, focusing
on efficient and sustainable energy
production, energy storage and the
integration with the communities. We
are flexible in our approach to ensure
the best outcomes for citizens.
In China, we are currently developing
and focusing on distributed energy
supply projects. We cooperate with
local partners and provide customer
services, such as more efficient
energy management.
Solutions to Cities and Territories
As of December 2019,
EVCHONG had made
substantial progress since
ENGIE became a stakeholder:
We are investing in key companies to
pursue the development of integrated
electric mobility offers which meet
cities’ and territories’ needs for air
quality improvement. To support
the energy transition and electric
mobility in China, we have acquired
shares in EVCHONG, a Shanghai-
based private company specialized
in electric vehicle-related services
from installation to maintenance of
charging points, and battery research
and development.
Our Ambition: Become the World Leader in the Zero-
carbon Transition as a Service
By the end of 2019, UNISUN’s global
power plant projects had represented
600 MW of installed capacity, among
which distributed PV power projects
had generated more than 530 MW, and
operated with UPER more than 1.2 GW.
• 36,484 private chargers
had been installed all
around China.
• More than 2,167 semipublic
chargers had been developed
(finance, design, build,
O&M), mainly in Shanghai,
Hangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen
and Guangzhou.
• 5 fast charging stations
had been in operation
for a Chinese ride-hailing
giant since August 2019
while 2 others were under
construction and another 4
were in the pipeline.

Stakeholder Engagement
By carrying out different activities, we are pursuing harmonious and profitable
development that creates value for the company and its stakeholders.
To strengthen our local presence and ensure that our projects are supported,
we are in continuous dialogue with the internal and external stakeholders.
Our conception of sustainable development places the external and internal
stakeholders at the heart of our approach in order to share the challenges,
actions, plans and results.
ENGIE Supports the Sustainable Development of Cities in China
Today, 50% of the world’s population
lives in cities. By 2050, that
percentage will rise to more than
70%. So sustainable urban planning
is inevitably a major challenge for
human beings.
ENGIE is committed to promoting the
sustainable development of cities and
enhancing life quality of the citizens.
In China, we actively participate
in forums and advisory councils to
provide practical support for city
authorities.
The Chairman of the Board of
Directors of ENGIE has been an
advisor to the mayor of Shanghai

international think-tank is composed
of Chairpersons and CEOs of the
world’s best-known multinational
corporations and serves as a
platform for industry leaders across
a wide range of sectors as well as
geographies to contribute their
expertise and ideas to the urban
development of Shanghai.
In October 2019, Jean-Pierre Clamadieu,
Chairman of the Board of Directors of
ENGIE, attended the 31st annual meeting

partnerships and create options. By
involving various internal functions
and teams, the China Innovation &
New Business initiative will also let
business lines of ENGIE China be fully
dedicated to the growth of mature
business and focused segments. It will
also serve as a platform for business
lines, ENGIE Lab China, and Digital
teams to be better connected with
external innovation eco-system.
Since late 2018, we have created an
online website as the open innovation
platform so as to connect players and

ENGIE is committed to using finance as a tool to lead the zero-carbon transition,
and to further integrate CSR into its financial practices. The Group is thereby
playing a key role in advancing the rise of sustainable finance across the globe.
In China, sustainable finance has been rapidly gaining momentum too. In 2015,
the Green Finance Committee of China Society for Finance and Banking was
created. In 2016, the Guidelines for Establishing the Green Financial System
were introduced by a joint effort of 7 ministries. As a result, sustainable finance
in China is characterized by comprehensive coverage and support as well as
accountable implementation.
Buoyed by tailwinds from progressive policy, ENGIE China is continuously
improving its sustainable finance initiatives by supporting greening financial
practices, and by contributing to the Group’s green bond strategy.
Green Bonds
According to the World Bank,
green bonds are a promising debt
financing option available to
private firms to support climate
and environmental investments.
Investors are often more
attracted to green bonds, because
they allow for both monetary
returns and positive social and
environmental impact. The total
green bond market is already
worth 735 billion US dollars and
growth is expected to continue.
In 2019, global issuance volume
amounted to 250 billion US dollars,
up 32% from last year. The Chinese
green bond market is the world’s
second largest, and 2018 issuance
exceeded 30 billion US dollars.
Regulators in China further stimulated
market growth and improved market
integrity.
ENGIE is committed to playing an
important role in the development
of the Green Bond market to channel
more investments towards climate
change mitigation. As of July 2019,
ENGIE had issued green bonds worth
8.75 billion euros, making it one of
the leading corporate players in the
market. Continuing its efforts to lead
the market, ENGIE is planning to issue
another green bond worth over 1
billion euros in early 2020.
These Green Bonds meet
the terms of the Green Bond
Framework that ENGIE has
defined in cooperation with
external partners and in line with
the Green Bond Principles. This
means that the funds raised are
allocated to projects that meet
environmental, social and societal
criteria. So, the net proceeds will
be used to fund eligible green
projects in renewable energy,
energy efficiency, and resource
protection. For the green bonds
issued last year, 2.5 billion euros
will be allocated to eligible
investment expenditures.

Employee Empowerment
We attach great importance to employees as they are our most foundational and
essential stakeholders and indispensable in realizing ENGIE’s financial results as
well as social and environmental commitments.
To deal with emerging challenges, we will continue to invest in talents and
increase diversity among employees, thereby creating value for all.
Building a Successful Workplace Unity in Diversity
We are committed to building an
inclusive workplace and strive to
maintain diversity in talents, as
workplace diversity is increasingly
becoming a business necessity. We
believe a diverse workforce is a

With great support from the management
team and active participation of
employees, we carried out training
programs throughout the past year, with
a total of 2,811.4 training hours and an
average of 35.2 hours per employee.
To better empower the employees,
ENGIE China initiated the “FURTHER
TOGETHER” program in July 2018, a
12-month internal campaign. After an
impactful start in 2018, we continued
the campaign in 2019 and came
to fruitful conclusions. In general,
the “FURTHER TOGETHER” program
has become a new channel for the
management team to communicate
with the employees and a new
platform where the employees can
bond with each other and foster the
spirit of collaboration.
In 2019, the program was organized
into 3 phases, focusing on how we
as ENGIE China work with both an
entrepreneurial DNA and a mindset
of empowerment to thrive in China’s
swift development.
“FURTHER TOGETHER” Program
The first phase was the “STEERCO
Seminar” where all 5 members of
the Steering Committee took part
in a 1.5-day seminar in May 2019.
They held an in-depth discussion
about ENGIE’s mission and future
development in China. The active
involvement of all the participants
and exchanges of views during
the discussion contributed to
the success of the event and laid
down the foundations for a fruitful
collaboration and successful strategy.
The second phase was a half-day
workshop where all 5 members
of the Steering Committee and
representatives from each
department participated on May 29,
2019. It improved comprehension of
China’s current situation and ENGIE
China’s vision for future development,
and deepened understanding of the
zero-carbon transition.
The third phase included two parts.
One part was a one-day workshop
where all the employees participated
on July 9, 2019. It facilitated our
understanding of ENGIE China
Operational Framework, together with
the Terms of Engagement. The other
part was a one-day team building
activity where all employees had fun
together on Sept 20, 2019, bonding
the teams and fostering collaboration
among them.
In addition, ENGIE also organized 3
sharing sessions by representatives
from different departments, which
empowered employees and created
a good opportunity for them to
communicate and better understand
various departments’ functions and
activities.

In the digital era, we want to
empower employees with digital
technology for work efficiency and
well-being in the workplace.
we have launched the digital
mindfulness campaign. The goal is
to improve workplace well-being,
reduce employee anxiety and
become thought leader on digital
sustainability. This does not mean to
limit the usage of digital tools, but to
promote their sustainable, healthy
and efficient use.
This campaign has 3 pillars, based
on the consequences of misusing
digital tools: physical distress, mental
suffering and digital pollution.
Digital Mindfulness Campaign
The digital mindfulness campaign
aims to alleviate these impacts.
Employee awareness will be raised,
and the public will be inspired to
evolve and adapt their mindsets and
behaviors. This will also contribute
to valuing human connection and
collaboration. The project has 3
stages:
• Survey• Workshop • Serious

• Physical distress can arise
from exposure to screens.
Blue light may cause eye
damage and deteriorate
sleep quality. Studies have
found that using electronic
devices can shift the
circadian clock, giving the
body the impression that
one isn’t ready to sleep.
• Psychological consequences
of being overly connected
include stress, anxiety and
lack of concentration. In fact,
6 out of 10 employees say
IT increases stress in their
professional life, and 8 in
10 say it provokes anxiety,
according to ENGIE’s white
paper on infobesity released
in July 2018.
1) Convert: In September 2019,
a survey found how ENGIE’s
employees feel about the issue.
In March 2020, an awareness
workshop will create the impetus
to collectively and individually
improve digital behaviors at work.
2) Practice: ENGIE China will roll out
a serious game to make digital
behavior more mindful. Intuitive
visuals, learning modules, friendly
competition and self-tracking will
be used to show progress.
3) Inspire: A design competition
will enable employees to create
content to sensitize to digital
pollution. The work will be
presented in a multimedia art
installation to inspire the public.

Ethics and Sustainable Purchasing
Ethics: Born in Our Blood
1. Act in accordance with laws and regulations
In every circumstance, ENGIE’s employees and
entities must observe international, federal,
national and local law, as well as business ethics
rules pertaining to their activities.
2. Behave honestly and promote a culture of
integrity
Honesty and integrity must govern both
business and interpersonal relationships,
and everyday professional practices. ENGIE
encourages reporting of ethical incidents. No
employee should be sanctioned for using a
reporting measure for these incidents when it
is done selflessly, in good faith, made without
malice and in accordance with the conditions set
out by the law and with ENGIE's whistleblowing
policy.
3. Be loyal
Commitments must be kept; communications are
done in good faith, and with a spirit of providing
sincere information.
4. Respect others
ENGIE attaches the utmost importance to
tolerance, respect for the rights of persons, their
dignity and their singularity, and to respecting
different cultures.
ENGIE’s ethics and compliance policy are
rooted in four principles:
Nowadays, the sustainability of
procurement is of vital importance
to every company that is looking
forward to green business. ENGIE
has a responsible procurement
policy, which aims to strike a
balanced, sustainable relationship
with its suppliers, encourage their
CSR approach and contribute to the
development of local SMEs. ENGIE’s
procurement policy sets out its
commitments and the requirements
for its suppliers in terms of
competitiveness, health and safety,
ethical and social issues, and the
environment.
Sustainable Purchasing: Joint Commitment with Suppliers
Since 2019, ENGIE China has
been paying great attention to
the sustainability of procurement,
carrying out internal meetings to
elaborate on its importance. To assure
the consistent, reliable, and effective
implementation of sustainable
procurement, we launched a program
with 3rd parties to train and certify
our auditors on the SA8000
standard. The 5-day training
consisted of 3 parts: background of CSR, SA8000 presentation, and audit methodology. After passing
an exam, the participant would
be rewarded a certificate named
“SA8000:2014 standard auditor”.
Meanwhile, we integrated the latest
ENGIE CSR policies into our audit
process to make sure that we share
the same values of CSR with our
suppliers, including human rights,
individual fundamental freedoms,
competition law and environmental
protection.
ENGIE China acts upon the sustainable
purchasing principles of ENGIE
and works closely with suppliers
to provide environmental-friendly
products while trying to minimize
our suppliers’ carbon and ecological
footprint. As ethics is a performance driver
and a reflection of the company’s
values, ENGIE has placed it at the
core of the strategy, management
and professional practices. ENGIE
has therefore adopted compliance
policies and procedures to manage
and control them.

Community Supports and Engagements
We are committed to supporting changes in society and behavior, contributing
to the harmony of society while optimizing value creation. We strive to become
an integral part of the communities in which we operate, with the goal to be the
best neighbor, supplier, employer and contributor.
Advance Women Careers
ENGIE has been attaching great
importance to female employees and
implementing practical initiatives
to help them progress their careers.
Meanwhile, we are also actively
taking part in various events to
inspire and encourage women around
the world.
Charlotte Roule, CEO of ENGIE China,
was invited to participate in IEEE
Women in Engineering International
Leadership Summit (IEEE WIE ILC)
on Sept 6, 2019. IEEE WIE ILC is a
platform where professional women
in technology fields learn from each
other, share their knowledge and
experience and create an inclusive
community that commonly innovates
to the benefit of the society.
During the summit, Ms. Roule shared
her personal experience with the
audiences to encourage women to
dream big, share thoughts, and act
both individually and collectively.
To help more female professionals,
Ms. Roule is also serving as a mentor
for the European Chamber Cross-
industry Mentor Initiative (CIMI),
which started at the end of 2019 and
goes on in 2020.
Through CIMI, C-suite leaders of
European businesses in China partner
with Chinese senior managers. C-suite
leaders of European businesses in
China impart the important skills
and knowledge required for Chinese
senior managers to take the next
step in their careers. Currently, the
initiative focuses on improving
female representation at senior
management and board level in
China.
By taking part in the initiative, Ms.
Roule provides guidance and support
to facilitate personal growth of her
mentee. This fully shows our belief
that female professionals are an
important pool of innovation, new
skills, entrepreneurship and new
ideas.
Provide Digital Learning for Underprivileged Children
Each year, many electric devices are
discarded even if some of them are
still in good working conditions. At
the same time, many poor children
in underdeveloped rural area have
no access to electric devices such as
computers and TVs.
To address these two issues, ENGIE
China partnered with Netspring, a
social enterprise pioneer in China, to
provide obsolete electronic devices
for underprivileged children in China
through Netspring Green IT Classroom
program.
The program focuses on mobilizing
key stakeholders such as companies,
institutions or universities to provide
their obsolete electronic devices to
schools that lack IT resources. At
the end of the program, Netspring
collects the electronic devices,
dismantling and disposing them in an
environmental-friendly way.
Through Netspring Green IT Classroom
program, ENGIE China donated 10
units of second-hand laptops and 5
printers, showing our commitment
to protecting Earth and supporting
underprivileged communities.

Being a socially responsible company,
ENGIE China has always been deeply
concerned with the environment,
from ambition to action. We have a
deep conviction that improving office
energy efficiency and providing a
green office environment are both
beneficial to the environment and to
the safety and health of all colleagues.
In Shanghai, the city’s first regulation
on domestic waste management took
effect on July 1, 2019. The regulation
mainly focuses on ensuring separate
transportation of different kinds
of garbage and improving waste
treatment facilities. According to
the regulation, household trash is
divided into four categories − dry
garbage, wet garbage (kitchen waste),
recyclable and hazardous waste.
To align with the government policy,
and also for providing a healthier
and safer working environment for
the employees, in June 2019, ENGIE
China changed the original trash bins
to classified garbage bins and put
up posters to call for the action of
all colleagues in Shanghai office for
the garbage classification. To ensure
a smooth transition, we organized
a training with Shanghai colleagues
to explain how to realize effective
garbage classification.
To build a greener office environment,
ENGIE China has also successfully
ended the use of plastic bottled water
in offices. Instead, a couple of mugs
have been prepared in pantries for
free use.
To the benefit of the society and
community, ENGIE China mobilized
employees to take part in the blood
donation in Shanghai.
Initiated by the Shanghai government,
the event encouraged healthy citizens
to donate blood voluntarily. It aimed
to guarantee blood supply and safety
for medical and clinical purposes,
protect the health of blood donors
and blood users and advocate the
spirit of humanitarianism.
Charlotte Roule, CEO of ENGIE China,
took part in the blood donation,
along with other employees. We feel
so proud of our CEO and colleagues’
commitment and effort in contribution
to the Chinese society. We are
contributing to the local community
with both our business operation and
