REVISED PROBLEM STATEMENT
We have decided to focus on an electric tooth brush. We will be trying to make this product smaller lighter and more sustainable. Along with these we are also trying to cut down on the noise it creates and make the battery more efficient. We will do this by employing different techniques from across different engineering disciplines.
SUMMARY OF EXTERNAL SEARCH ACTIVITIES• Conduct an Internet search on the reference
toothbrush and rival toothbrushes
• Patent search
• Benchmarkingo Oral-B CrossAction Pow Max Whitening,
Sonicare FlexCare, Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Pro Clean, and Oral-B Vitality
• Dissection
• Design Target
CONCEPT GENERATION• Using our morph charts (next slide), we
found our top 5 designs for each categoryo Energy Mechanism

Charger
HOW IT WORKS• The battery supplies energy for the motor• The motor then spins the attached metal
arm• This metal arm is attached to some gears
that allow the brush head to rotate the the whole way around for optimal cleaning
• A circuit board will also make sure that the battery is not over-charged
IN CONCLUSION
• We feel that our redesigned toothbrush is very successful at fulfilling the needs of the customero More sustainableo More efficiento Better cleaning action
