lockdown period of COVID-19 Pandemic to impart
education to the students of the institute using online
conferencing tools, uploading videos on YouTube,
creating faculty You Tube channels, sharing assignments
and study material, assessing online through quizzes and
Vivas etc. During the lockdown period, More than 900
files were communicated through institute web portal as
a part of disseminating academic documents e.g.
assignments, text / video files, presentations etc. and
more than 22000 documents were submitted by students
as a part of academic requirement. Counselling sessions
were also arranged for students to guide students about
maintaining their physical and mental health during this

organized on academic and non-academic concerns. The
faculty of institute were also invited as experts to
deliver their expertise in their respective domains.
V-LAB (Virtual Lab)
To provide remote access of Labs in various disciplines
of Science and Engineering, Ministry of Human
Resources Department has started Virtual Lab projects
under National Mission on Education through ICT. A
virtual lab is a tool for distance learning and/or
experimentation that allows people to share knowledge,
data voice, video, tools and many other resources. It
provides a suitable environment to extend, improve,
integrate, refine and assist the learning and/or
experimentation process of many subjects, thus
contributing to an increase of the effectiveness of
scientific research and widening the use of scarce or
costly equipment’s. GEC Valsad is a Nodal Center under
IIT, Bombay for conducting V-labs activities. During
current COVID-19 pandemic, GEC Valsad has taken
various steps like organizing online lectures, webinars,
virtual labs etc. to continue the teaching learning process
during lockdown period. More than 2260 experiments
were performed by 949 students of GECV on VLAB
platform from their home.

Students’ Reactions to Online mode of Teaching & Learning
Online classes are
one of my favorite
ways of learning and
understanding. In
past few months, we
were studying online and I truly
appreciate our teachers’ efforts
in teaching us. While studying
online, we study in a comfortable
way sitting at home. Tests were
conducted online and were
mostly MCQ based and within a
given period of time, we need to
complete that. Sometimes it is
difficult for student belonging
to village area where internet
connectivity is not so good.
Otherwise it is comfortable and
best way of giving test. We can
learn and give test online to test
ourselves. I would like to say
that if we are able to learn
sitting at home that is just
because of our professors.
Thanks to our professors who
took the initiative to teach us
online.

During this pandemic
situation, as
classroom sessions
weren’t conducted,
our respective
subject faculties regularly
uploaded guidelines, book
materials, PowerPoint
presentations, etc. to impart us
knowledge and avoid
miscommunication in our studies.
Regular evaluations were carried
out via MCQ tests, assignment
and viva, on various platforms i.e.
google classroom, google meet and
college website. Uncertainty of
any student was apparently noted
and resolved. Many interactive
sessions and acknowledging
webinars were conducted and
we're all now attending our
regular classes online. We’re
absolutely obliged to have such a
good support from our college and
faculties.
Thank you.

We have been
studying online for
last 4 months. We
have given our
submissions online. In
the beginning it was all confusing
but after sometimes, we got
habituated to it. Now, we are
attending online lectures
everyday on the different
platforms like Google meet, cisco
WebEx etc. As the faculties are
providing the materials before
the live session on Google
classroom, we are able to first
refer content and then the
lecture becomes more
understandable. There are also
small quiz sessions after all the
lectures that show us our
progress. The faculties are also
helping out with our doubts
anytime. Moreover in this
pandemic situation, our study is
not affected at all.
Thank you GECV.

Our HOD
introduced multiple
webinars to
students and gave
some helpful advice
for the gate exam. We learn
from a no. of sources like
YouTube, Udemy, PadhAI,
NPTEL, khan academy, V-lab
simulations etc. I regularly
exercised yoga and meditation
to remain healthy. We learnt a
lot from the materials provided
by our faculties via Google
classroom & online webinars. I
also learned some programming
languages from online learning
like python and c. The faculty
and students were in touch via
online classes, assignments &
viva’s. Our college also arranged
some of the webinars by
themselves like for ANSYS
software, patent filling,
industry 4.0, automation sector,
power system, electrical
vehicles, and circuit breakers
etc.

COVID-19 pandemic
brought a sudden stop
to our routine life.
The only crucial
question in our minds
was how to continue with
academics? But as it is said that
“The Show must go on", our
faculties kept on providing
necessary notes, guidance and
information through online
teaching modes. But this didn't
satisfy them the kept on
approaching us to share our
doubts and also solved all the
queries as soon as possible. Online
uploading of assignments was a bit
tedious but there too, faculties
guided us with proper available
apps so that we could manage to
upload all possible work. Even
practical examples were very
easily taught by providing
necessary video links and sharing
presentations. It was a great
experience and the efforts made
by faculties is commendable.
