Introduction• A team from the Introductory
Education class at NWACC organized an Earth Day tree planting event.
• NWACC students collaborated with Sugarcreek Elementary school and local nurseries to plant trees on the Sugarcreek campus.

• This project served the community of Sugarcreek Elementary by providing them with more trees.

Course Content Objectives
• Examine our beliefs and opinions about teaching and learning.
• Extend our understanding of self as a learner and future teacher.
• Integrate our knowledge of self and students to the context of the school.
• Broaden our understanding of the role of schools in our society.
• Review practical issues related to the teaching profession.

Methods• Ashley contacted Mrs. Nauman at
Sugarcreek Elementary, and was able to get project approval.
• Over the course of a week we visited several local nurseries seeking donated trees.
• We designed shovels for the children to use and take home.

Ideas for Future
• The small trees we have planted will eventually turn into large maple shade trees.
• The children will be proud as they pass to higher level schools and leave their legacy.
• No global warming!
