Ms. Nunez’s Teaching Philosophy
Education is not the filling of a pail,
but the lighting of a fire.William Butler Yeats

Ms. Nunez’s Teaching Philosophy
Authentic and meaningful lessons that dare students to think beyond their levels of comfort and strive to insight intrinsic motivation can only be truly effective when delivered in ways that incorporate the plethora of learners present in the learning environment. Instructors must maintain a philosophy that incites them to always consider the perspectives and strengths that students are equipped with and to celebrate the diversity of intelligences that make up their student body. Students must not be forced into a learning structure that is built upon a “universal” ideal student, because that student does not exist. They must be allowed to actively participate in the creation of their own education with an emphasis on collaborative learning and care for the well-being of their fellow classmates so that all students may flourish together.

Teaching Experience:Interning at Wells Branch Elementary
I feel privileged to have observed Ms. Hatfield’s 4th grade class at Wells Branch Elementary. Her classroom management procedures are impeccable and I am constantly in awe at the improvement in behavior and elevated levels of comprehension I’ve witnessed in the short time I have been a part of this learning environment.
The class functions as a working democracy where everyone’s ideas are valued and heard. Ms. Hatfield shows care for the opinions of each child by making sure they have the ability to contribute to classroom grand conversations and also by taking interest in their lives outside of school.
