DOINGS AT THE LODGE
Dunmunkle Lodge Newsletter
May 2020
RESIDENT BIRTHDAYS
Residents who celebrated birthdays
throughout the month of May were
Shirley Rogers (6th May), Evelyn Cornell
(9th May) and Susan Martin (14th May).
These lovely ladies deserve all the
happiness in the world, and we hope
you all enjoyed your special day!
KEEPING YOU INFORMED: COVID-19
Management would like to thank families and friends of our residents for being so patient and
understanding whilst Dunmunkle Lodge has been in full lockdown. We are very pleased to announce that
as of Monday 1 June 2020 we are easing visitor restrictions!
The visiting guidelines are as follows:
Visiting
- Each resident will be able to have one 30-minute visit twice a week
- Visiting hours within the facility will be Monday to Friday, between 1pm and 4pm and will need
to be booked in advance with administration
- Visits are to occur in the resident’s room
- Visitors are not to go into communal areas or visit any other resident
- Weekend visits can take place “Over-the-fence” where our residents are seated outdoors (inside
the fence) and the visitor is seated outside the fence, maintaining social distancing. Please call The
Lodge to arrange prior to your arrival.
Screening
- Upon entry into the facility, visitors will have their temperature checked - if it is above 37.8°C you
will not be able to enter the facility
- Visitors will need evidence that they have had a flu vaccination for 2020. Please provide us with
evidence by either email, fax or mail. A vaccination card will then be made up and posted to you
ready for your first visit (please note we will need your postal address to be able to do this). You
will need to present your card every time you come into the facility.
- We will record your temperature, your name and contact details in our visitors record document.
This data will be shared with appropriate departments if a COVID-19 case is identified in the
residential facility.
- Social distancing of 1.5 metres must be maintained
- Hand hygiene is to be completed upon entry and exit from the facility
FLOWERS BRIGHTEN OUR DAY
A very kind and thoughtful Dale Watts has delivered an abundance of
beautiful chrysanthemum bouquets to The Lodge over recent months.
Dale was a florist in his younger days and it really shows! The presentation
of the flowers has been truly stunning, and the flowers themselves are
enough to bring a smile to anyone’s face. We are so grateful to be able to
scatter arrangements throughout the common areas for everyone to
appreciate and enjoy. Thankyou Dale!
Donna Cameron from Parklane Jewelry has very generously donated a
gift bag full of stunning jewelry to The Lodge as part of the ‘Project
Sparkle’ movement. ‘Project Sparkle’ honors health care workers and
is a wonderful way to brighten the day of our front-line workers.
PROJECT SPARKLE
Each week an item of jewelry is being gifted to one deserving staff
member to acknowledge their passion and dedication to their job, and to
show appreciation for their contribution. Huge congratulations to
recipients Kristy Romeo (Personal Care Attendant) and Carley Weppner
(Cook)! Donna we are touched by your thoughtfulness and can’t thank
you enough for this amazingly kind gesture!
For further information a fact sheet released by the Australian Government Department of Health has
been attached – see ‘FAQS RESTRICTIONS ON ENTRY INTO AND VISITORS TO AGED CARE FACILITIES’.
We continue to encourage you all to deliver letters, parcels, gifts and communication devices to the
facility. Our residents thoroughly enjoy Facetime and Skype video calls so please continue to use these
forms of communication as well as phone calls.
Finally thank you to those friends and family who have sent in evidence of your flu shots and thank you
all for your ongoing support and cooperation during this difficult time.
