BRO-ING OUT: The Dodgers kick off a seven-game road trip with
the first of three games vs. the Phillies, against whom Los Angeles
took two of three games last week at Dodger Stadium during the
club’s 5-4 homestand. Los Angeles gained ground in the standings
during yesterday’s travel day and now sits only 0.5 games behind the
Giants in the NL West. The Dodgers continue to lead the NL Wild
Card chase, 3.5 games ahead of the Marlins and Cardinals. Following
three days in the City of Brotherly Love, the Dodgers will move on
to Cincinnati for a four-game set to conclude the trip.
The Dodgers won two of three games at Philadelphia last
year and are 10-3 in their last 13 games at Citizens Bank
Park dating to the start of the 2012 season (20-11 overall).
ROSTER UPDATE: The Dodgers have reinstated right-handed
pitcher Casey Fien (right elbow tendonitis) from the 15-day DL and
optioned right-hander Brock Stewart to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Zach Walters, who was designated for assignment on Sunday, has
been released from the roster.
Fien, who last appeared in a big-league game on July 16,
made four rehab appearances for Single-A Rancho
Cucamonga and the Rookie-level AZL Dodgers, allowing
one run in 5.0 innings. He’s appeared in 21 games for the
Dodgers since being claimed from the Twins on May 7,

by any team in the last 30 years since 1987, behind only the 2012
Red Sox (27).
Adam Liberatore (left elbow inflammation) is expected to
continue his rehab tonight for Triple-A Oklahoma City after
tossing 1.0 inning for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on
Sunday. Liberatore last pitched in the Majors on July 29 and
has posted a 1.62 ERA in 44 games with the Dodgers this
year.
HILLTOPPERS: The Dodgers lead the Major Leagues with 1,095

batting average (.226), while posting the fourth-lowest team ERA in
the big leagues (3.68).
Los Angeles relievers rank second in the Majors in ERA
(3.14, 144 ER/413.0 IP) and top the big leagues in both
opponents’ batting average (.208) and WHIP (1.09).
Kenta Maeda is tied for the team lead for wins (11, Clayton
Kershaw), including seven victories on the road (7-2),
which are tied with Hyun-Jin Ryu (2013, 7-4), Ismael
Valdez (1995, 7-6) and Don Sutton (1966, 7-7) for the
most road wins by a Los Angeles rookie, one behind
Kazuhisa Ishii (2002, 8-4). Maeda, who has won his last
three decisions, continues to lead MLB rookies in wins and
strikeouts (129, T-1st), while ranking second in ERA (3.31)
and opponents’ batting average (.224).
POW-ER STROKE: Congratulations to Single-A Rancho
Cucamonga outfielder Johan Mieses on being named California

four home runs and eight RBI in six games last week and leads the
Cal League overall with 26 homers in 104 games.

12 games since July 30. He has been one of the NL’s top
hitters in his last 53 games since June 10, leading the Senior
Circuit in home runs (17) and slugging percentage (.652),

that span.

(.469, 15-for-32, 5 2B, HR, 5 RBI) and is batting .359 (52-

Seager’s 174 hits through the first 140 games of his career
are the most by a Los Angeles Dodger (Source: Stats, LLC)
