DMT File Management
• Common Problems Managing DMT files– Reliable Upload– Reliable Download– Where are the files kept?– Tedious Procedures
• Using DOS commands for reliability means a LOT of TYPING!
• Manually verify upload/download was successful.
• With the DMT Controller, you can:– Upload and Download all of your DMT files
from one application.– Verify that the files were properly sent and
received– Have the reliability of the DOS FTP command
• Enter the IP addresses of all units here• Click the “Get DMT’s FROM Unit” button
Get ALL DMT files from ALL units in one operation!
• For each unit in the list, DMT Controller– Creates a Subdirectory– Uploads the Files– Checks that the files are valid
Restoring DMT Files to a Unit
Select the IP address of the unit to restore, then click “Put DMT’s INTO Unit”
DMT Controller makes sure that the firmware version the DMT files were created with matches the version currently in the unit.
DMT Controller makes sure that the IP address loaded in the DMT files matches the IP address of the destination unit.
If the JAGXAPC.DMT file is checked, DMT Controller verifies that the destination unit is a Q.i before this file is allowed to be sent
(DMT Controller works with JAGXTREME’s too!)
• DMT Controller gets the files out of the Unit and puts them into the ‘LIVE’ directory
• Then it compares the uploaded files against the archived files in DMT111.111.111.111
• After the compare is complete, the files in the ‘LIVE’ directory are discarded. The archived files are NEVER changed during this process.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE COMPARE FAILS?
You are given the option to ignore the difference or to abort the Verify
The EXCLUSION List
If you choose to ignore the difference, you are given the option to add the offending variable to an exclusion list.
Make sure that you really want DMT Controller to PERMANENTLY ignore this variable on ALL units!
The LOG file
Question: How can I make sure that DMT Controller has really done what I asked it to?
Answer: Look in the LOG file!
What it doesLogs all file transactions between any unit and DMT Controller
• Where files retrieved were archived
• What archived files were sent to which units
• Time stamp for all transactions.
• Much more (program start/stop time, version information, error messages, etc...).
How do I look at it?Any text editor, such as Notepad or WordPad.
CAUTIONS!
1. Never GET files from, or PUT files to any unit that is running in production!
2. Make sure that JagBasic programs are NOT running.
3. Turn OFF Verify when first sending DMT files to a NEW unit, or one on which a Master Reset has just been performed.
