has been corrected. Our deepest thanks to our marvelous technician Kyle Sullivan
and his son, Noah for the many hours they have put in and for their expertise in
making all of the transmissions available. Please note the east end gallery upstairs is now the media center and will not longer be able to accommodate folks for any over flow. Video and sound equipment is there for transmitting our liturgies. Thank you.

Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the "source and summit" of the
Christian life. The Mystery of the Eucharist explores the truth and beauty of Christ's real presence in the
Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members.
It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

CORPUS CHRISTI-the Feast of the Body and Blood of the Lord celebrates the reality of the presence of the Lord Jesus in the Eucharist. Jesus makes the promise to give us the Eucharist as recorded in the
Gospel of St. John, chapter 6. He tells us that He is the Bread of Life and that this bread is really his body given for us. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke we read of how this will happen, when he takes
bread and wine at the Last Supper and gives it to His disciples to eat and drink. And in the Gospel of Luke, we read of the celebration of this awesome mystery of love as he takes bread and blesses it and
gives it to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. It is at this moment that they recognize Him. Over a thousand years of our history as a church we have shared in the Eucharist on a
regular basis. The gospels like the Father’s of the Church give clear evidence of the Lord's physical presence in the bread and wine.
We have been deprived of the blessing to receive Communion these past several months due to Covid-19 and the restrictions given to us to limit the size of gatherings. This weekend as we celebrate the
solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ it is an appropriate time to renew our reverence in all of our gestures as we receive Communion. We assemble in a procession to approach the altar and bow our
heads in reverence as we come up to receive the Lord. Historically the procedure for Holy Communion was to receive it in the hand by making "your left hand a throne for the right one, which is to receive the King.
With your hand hollowed out receive the Body of Christ and answer Amen." -St. Cyril in 348 AD. Then consume it and return to your seat. St, John of Damascus observed: "Making the figure of the cross with
our hands, we receive the Body of Christ crucified" and risen. And then it is immediately consumed. Because of this pandemic the church encourages us to receive in the hand as a more sanitary method.
Reception on the tongue was a much later custom, arising, some say, because of some abuses in the late Middle Ages. While it is still permitted, it is not as sanitary. Instructions have been given that when
a priest, deacon or Communion Minister does give Communion on the tongue they are to stop, if the tongue has been touched or the hands of the minister have been breathed on, to sanitize their hands. It
is important to note that we are temples of God and our entire body is sacred, hands as well as tongue. At the renewal fostered as a result of the Second Vatican Council, the church restored the custom that was in use for over a thousand years to receive once again the Lord in the hand. In terms of reverence, it is
an interior disposition and one method cannot be said to be better or "holier" than another. We must also recall that we become living
tabernacles as we receive the Lord and as we return to our place in the church we may sit or kneel in reverence.
May we renew our gratitude to the Lord for this astounding gift of His love, in giving us Himself in His own Body and Blood so that we may become like Him. As the Sequence prayer for today Mass says:: "Lo the
angel's food is given to the pilgrim who has striven; see the children's bread from heaven, which on dogs may not be spent."

PARISH OFFERINGS for the weekend of June 7th were $15,019.00 and $1,192.00 for the Building Fund. We salute our people who are so charitably responding
with remarkable generosity to the needs of the Parish.
A note from Fr. Donato; Thank you for your recent note in the bulletin supporting Partners in Charity and your reminder to your
parishioners that this assists in funding my office. As you know, the Office for Vocations provides resources to young men and women who are pondering whether God might be calling them to follow Him as a priest or a
sister. Men who answer God's call and enter the seminary to see if God is truly calling them to be a
priest are in formation full time and cannot hold a job at the same time, so the Church must assist with the
basic living expenses. They aren't poor, but it is quite simple. Please thank your parishioners for their generosity in helping form the next generation of priests, and send my greetings to everyone. The
people of the parish remain in my daily prayers. I love you all and miss you.
Our NEW ORGAN is expected to arrive in late summer. The Allen Organ Company was asked to stop
their organ manufacturing and construct ventilators instead. We recently learned that they will resume
manufacturing organs. The current organ is on loan from the company. We are so grateful to our
electrician Rick Banach and his son, Michael who so generously provided their time and talents to install the needed wiring. Thank you and God Bless. you.
