LAIKIPIA PREDATOR PROJECT 1997-
The Laikipia Predator Project (LPP) is working with the KWS , Ranchers and Communities in Laikipia to develop practical measures which encourage coexistence between people, livestock and predators.

LPP Goal
To devise lion conservation strategies
To protect livestock from predators
To ensure that local people gain significant economic
value from lions and other wildlife, to offset the cost of
living with them.

Do Lions Benefit Laikipia People?
Laikipia's tourism employs approximately 1300 people, creating approximately 196m Kenya Shillings in wage earnings per year. Each employee has an average of 5 dependents meaning that through employment about 6500 people are directly dependent on tourism.
