A few other things:

A. As you do the audio recording, speak slowly and clearly B. Practice a few times before recording C. Consider doing multiple recordings and have someone else listen to them

your face 8. Speak a few words – you know you are doing it right when the level indicator reaches the mid-point most of the time, and

For safe keeping you should copy all of those files onto a flash drive and take it with you. Here’s how if you have used Camtasia’s defaults for saving your work:

1. Close ALL open files and folders

2. If it’s not already there, put your flash drive into a USB port

3. On the flash drive, create a new folder with your project’s name

4. Open the My Documents folder on your computer

5. Look for and open the Camtasia Studio folder

6. Look for a file with the name of your project, and a .CAMREC extension

a. Note: it will be a rather large file

7. Copy the .CAMREC file to the project folder on your flash drive

8. Still in the Camtasia Studio folder, look for the folder with the name of your project

9. Copy that folder to the project folder on your flash drive 10. You should also place a copy of your PowerPoint into that same folder on your flash drive

If you have edited and saved your project in Camtasia, there is one more file you should copy

11. Look for a file with the name of your project and a .CAMPROJ extension

12. Copy the .CAMPROJ file to the project folder on your flash drive

Digital Storytelling – Part IIb: Audacity then Camtasia Another way to create a multimedia story is to record your voice first, using a program such as Audacity. This will yield better quality audio because you can then edit and get it “just right”. The audio, images, and even background music if appropriate, can all be aligned in Camtasia. You can even add transitions if you wish. Activity: Audio Recording in Audacity As you go thru the following, please pay attention (write-it-down if you must) to where your files get saved…

1. If you have a PowerPoint presentation, open it and save all slides as images in the PNG format 2. For other story images, gather all of them into one folder 3. Open Audacity 4. Put the headphones on – the microphone should be in front of your mouth but NOT touching any part of your face 5. If you have not practiced giving your story, please do so now 6. When you are ready, click the Record button at the top of the screen and begin speaking 7. If you need a break hit the Pause button 8. When you are finished click the Stop button 9. The results will look like this:

10. Save your voiceover 11. Export your voiceover - BEST as an MP3 file – or as a WAV file 12. Open Camtasia 13. Import all of your image files 14. Import your voiceover file 15. Drag your voiceover to the audio track 16. Drag you first image to the video track 17. Resize the image as necessary to cover the audio related to it 18. Place the second image next to the first on the video track 19. Resize the image as necessary to cover the audio related to it 20. Repeat for ever image 21. SAVE YOUR WORK 22. Produce your Story as described above
