Tajinder Singh,Marketing Head, AkaalUniversity, Punjab was theresource person who hastalked about career avenuesafter graduation and entrepre-neurship. He discussed indetail about job opportunitiesin private sector as well as inGovernment sector.

Earlier the programme wasinaugurated by Principal of

the College Prof. (Dr.) JavaidAhmed Qazi who advised thestudents to work hard so as tosecure their placements innational and multinationalcompanies rather than search-ing the jobs in government sec-tor only. Dr. Khalid Rayaz,Head Department ofGeography and coordinatorplacement cell formally well-comed the resource person andother dignitaries besides con-ducting the proceedings of theprogramme. Dr. TajinderSingh, Head Department ofBotany and coordinator careercounseling cell introduced theresource person and Dr. AltafAhmed coordinator psycholog-ical counseling cell presentedthe vote of thanks. Almost allthe faculty members and agood number of studentsattended the online pro-gramee. STATE TIMES NEWSUDHAMPUR: To review thestatus of estimation of variousworks approved under DistrictCapex 2021-22 BDC, DDCand PRIs grants and otherongoing schemes of RDD sec-tor in the District, AdditionalDistrict DevelopmentCommissioner, UdhampurKanta Devi chaired a meetingof Rural DevelopmentDepartment officers. She alsoreviewed the progress of otherRDD schemes like PradhanMantri Awas Yojana (PMAY),Mahatma Gandhi NationalRural Employment GuaranteeAct (MGNREGA), 14th FCand RGSA etc and assessedthe status of convergence planto be taken up with the linedepartments. During the meet-ing, Executive Engineer REWapprised that against the total

of 2323 number of worksunder District Capex Budget,the estimates of 740 have beenchecked technically so far. Heinformed that the estimation ofall the approved works shall becompleted by the mid of July2021. Directions were issued toRDD to work with dedicationand in a transparent mannerto complete the works withinthe stipulated time frameensuring desired quality and

progress of the works in ruralareas. The ADDC exhortedupon the officers to maintaintransparency and accountabili-ty in the execution of all theworks. Among others,Assistant CommissionerDevelopment Udhampur,Mushtaq Chowdhary,Executive Engineer, REWbesides Assistant Engineerswere also present in themeeting.

The Deputy Commissionersaid that common formatsdevised for the surveyincludes details related tomigration route, family par-ticulars, educational status,health and animal hus-bandry facilities, Livelihoodand skilling requirementamong other parameters.He also informed thatAdditional DistrictDevelopment Commissionerhas been nominated asDistrict Nodal Officer forthe Survey and District Sts.& Evaluation Officer asCoordinating Officer, whoshall also organise Trainingsfor the staff being engaged

and conduct IEC Activities.The Deputy Commissioner

informed that based on thesurvey a range of differentfacilities will be provided bythe department whichinclude transit facilities,livestock services, health-care, education, Livelihoodinitiatives, essential servicesand infrastructure.

The Deputy Commissionerapprised that on completionof family the process of digi-tisation and smart card withcomplete family details willbe initiated. The smartcards will serve multiplepurposes for a range of facil-ities to be extended to thetribal migratory population.

"The Tribal AffairsDepartment will provideassistance to migratorynomadic families under vari-ous schemes and the planalso includes capacity build-ing of the nomadic popula-tion", the Deputy

Commissioner added."Special Tehsil level com-

mittees have been constitut-ed and Tehsildars concernedhave been designated as thenodal officer for enumera-tion and survey of migratorytribal population of the dis-trict. Education, Forest,RDD and Animal and SheepHusbandry Department willassist the RevenueDepartment in the processof collection of required data", the Deputy Commissionerinformed. He also asked theconcerned officers to takefull assistance of the PRImembers in this regard.

The Deputy Commissionersaid that the survey wouldstart from July 1 this yearand special training sessionswould be organised for thestaff engaged in this datacollection process.

STATE TIMES NEWSDODA: DistrictDevelopment CommissionerDoda, Vikas Sharma onTuesday reviewed theprogress on Pradhan MantriGram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) road projects ofSub division Assar,Bhagwah, Bhaderwah,Doda, Thathri and Gandoh,here at a meeting held in hisoffice Chamber.

The meeting was attendedby Joint Director (CPO)Parshotam Kumar, SEPMGSY, Executive EngineerPMGSY, and AEEs of con-cerned sub divisions.

The District DevelopmentCommissioner was apprisedthat out of 111 ongoing

roads in Doda Division(Subdivision Assar,Bhagwah, Bhaderwah andDoda) 65 roads have beenblacktopped till May end thisyear.

Similarly, in ThathriDivision (SubdivisionThathri and Gandoh) out of63 roads 20 have been black-

topped till March 2021. Itwas also given out that these174 road projects shall bene-fit 238 habitations in the dis-trict.

The DC expressed dismayover slow progress inPMGSY Division Thathriand directed the SE con-cerned to fix the responsibili-

ty of poor performance andtake strict action accordingly.He directed the authorities toset the target of blacktopping25 KM in a fortnight to com-plete the BT work byNovember this year.

Further the DDC directedthe officers to review thepending projects for want ofany clearance from revenueor forest department to com-plete these projects at theearliest.

STATE TIMES NEWSRAMBAN: Property worthlakhs were reduced to ashes inthe devastating fire in whichmore than a dozen residentialhouses were gutted at Hijwa-Mahu area of Tehsil Kharri inBanihal Sub Division ofRamban District on Tuesdaymorning.

According to reports, morethan 13 residential housescame under mysterious blazeat Hijwa area, which is one ofthe far-off area in BanihalSub Division.

Incharge Police Post KharriInspector Zaheer Iqbal saidthat the fire, which started at11:00 AM completelydestroyed 13 residential hous-

es. He said that after getting

information, Army, Police andlocals rushed to the spot andtried to douse the flames, butas of now about 13 residentialhouses got completely gutted

as the structures were madeof dry cedar. No injury orcasualty has been reported inthe incident, while the exactloss could not be ascertainedyet. Police said that FireTenders also reached near the

spot but it's 3 KM from roadand they were unable to dousethe fire.

Later, an Indian Air Force(IAF) helicopter has beenpressed into service in DalLake to facilitate the ongoingfirefighting operationlaunched to put off the mas-sive blaze.

The helicopter was deployednear Char Chinari with'Bambi bucket' attached to itto facilitate the ongoing fire-fighting operation.

When the last reports camein, the fire is under control.DDC Ramban Mussarat-ul-Islam also visited the villageand directed officers to pre-pare the loss.

JINDRAH: The NSS unitof Government DegreeCollege (GDC), Jindrah onorganised a door to doorawareness campaign forlocals of Jindrah village inrespect to center sponsoredscheme 'Pradhan MantriUjjwala Yojna' (PMUY)which was launched byPrime Minister of IndiaNarendra Modi on 1 May2016 to distribute LPG con-nections to women of BelowPoverty Line families.

The NSS volunteers ofGDC Jindrah visited thefamilies of village Jindrahwho are below the povertyline and gave them details ofPMUY and how they canavail benefits from thisscheme which aimed at safe-guarding the health ofwomen & children by provid-ing them with a clean cook-ing fuel - LPG, so that theydon't have to compromisetheir health in smokykitchens or wander in unsafeareas collecting firewood.

The campaign was wellorganized by Dr. SunilSharma, ProgrammeOfficer, NSS unit of GDCJindrah under the guidanceof Prof. Rajshree Dhar, thePrincipal of GDC Jindrah.

Today's campaign was pendown by Dr. Seema. TheNSS volunteers actively par-ticipated in the event. Thepeople of the area also gave apatient hearing to the NSSvolunteers as well as clarifiedtheir doubts associated tothe scheme.

While address-ing a press conference hesaid while Govt. has openedand gave partial relaxationin many business establish-ments, then why gym andhealth clubs were kept atbay.

The webinar wasattended by the faculty andstudents of the college. Theresource person for the eventwas Sanjay Kumar Sharma,Assistant Professor at Schoolof Computer Science andEngineering (CSE), ShriMata Vaishno Devi University(SMVDU), Katra.

The event was organised inconnection with "New emerg-ing Technologies in the field ofComputer Science and

Information Technology". Thewebinar was organized to cre-ate awareness among the stu-dents about the new emergingtechnologies like BlockchainTechnology and its need in cur-rent digital world.

The programme started withthe welcome address by Er.Vivek Mahajan, Principal ofthe College. In his welcomeaddress, he gave a detailedintroduction of the resourceperson and also advised partic-ipants to take full advantage ofthe knowledge and experienceof the resource person by lis-tening to him carefully.

The Books released wereDistrict Statistical HandBook, Block StatisticalHand Book and EconomicReview for the year 2018-19.

District Statistics andEvaluation Office Kathua isthe Nodal Agency for collec-tion, compilation and dis-semination of important sta-tistical data in the District.The data contained in thesepublications will serve as animportant tool for theresearchers, Planners,Students and other users intheir respective fields.

After releasing the publi-cations, the DDC hailed theefforts of field functionariesin collection of data andstressed on improvement ofthese publications in futurewith regular updating andwide coverage. "This data isof great importance as it willbe used by all stakeholderslike policy makers, planners,students and researchers"he said.

He also announced that

the publications will bemade available in publicdomain and citizens candownload the same from theOfficial Website of theDistrict Administration,Kathua.
