Asalways,wearedelight-edtopresentthefirstnewsletteroftheyearwithmoreinterestingnewsandpictureswhichnormal-ly include some important mile-stonesbuiltduringtheyear. Wehopeyouwillenjoyreadingthem. CVTas themodel schoolfor dual track vocational educa-tion (in the form of apprentice-ship) is happy to see ourmodelbeing start-replicated by a fewvocational education providersinMyanmar.AsperthesayingofAmericanwriter,Mr. JamesTrus-lowAdams,“therearetwoformsofeducation,oneshouldteachushowtomakealivingandtheoth-erhowtolive”ourconceptgivesopportunitytoenhancepersonalandprofessionaldevelopmentofMyanmar youth which supportlocal development. Since 2002,CVThasbeenofferingcourses inareasofprofessions:CommercialAssistant,CabinetMaker,Electri-cian,MetalWorkerandHotelandGastronomyAssistant, foranan-nualtotalofaround500appren-tices in collaborationwith a fewhundredlocalenterprises.Benefitsofapprenticesinclude:- Earn while they learn (both inclassrooms and in real workingenvironment),-Gaincontacts,-Gaintheoreticalknowledgeandpracticalworkingexperiences,
- Be able to progress to profes-sional levelandachievecertifica-tionaccording to their individualtalents.Benefitsofpartnerenterprisesin-clude: - Grow business through knowl-edgetransferfromclassroomstotheworkplace(theorylearningtopracticalapplication),- Secure skilled employees andmanagers,- Increase efficiency, motivationandproductivity. All what entrepreneursshould do is: invest in trainingand development of the staff inwhich the return on investmentis unlimited. Recruit peoplewithrightattitudes,traintheminCVTbyallowingonedayperweekoftheory and classroom practiceandretaintheminharmonywithmarket conditions. Furthermore,getting involved in educationquality assurance activities suchas regular evaluation and feed-backs on apprentice’s progressand curriculum development for
theindustry. Nowadays, governmentis promoting TVET systems andinvesting in the future of TVETdevelopment. Beacause of scar-citiesofnecessaryresourcesandchallenges everywhere, therewill remain a long way to keepgoing. The driving force behindsuch initiatives should not onlycome from the government butalso from all of industry players,entrepreneurs and associations.So, let’s join our hands togetherto support development of ouryouth and industries which willthenalsosupportournation’sso-cial and economic developmentandtobesustainable. Finally,Iwouldliketoex-pressmy heartfelt thanks to ourexisting partners who have sup-ported youth of Myanmar andour support loyal to CVT Myan-mar overmany years and at thesame time, welcome all of ournewpartnerstojoinonboardCVTMyanmar.
Relocation Apprentices for 2019-2020 New Intake
Apprentice’sapplicationsarenowaccepted for 2019-2020 intake.In this year newly re-designed
Hotel and Gastronomy courseswillbeofferedinthenewschoolbuildingwhichislocatedinMind-hammaGardenCity,MindhammaRoad, Hlaing Township (on theleft).CoursesofElectrician,Cabi-netMakerandMetalWorkerPro-fessionswillbeofferedtoappren-tices in our new school building,locatedonAnnadaPagodaRoad,BawamyintQuarter,ThingangyunTownship(ontheright).

Teachers’ Training and It’s Study Trip
Ms.PetraSchade,TeachingMeth-odology Expert from Switzerlandvisited CVT Myanmar from 2ndto26thNovember2018andcon-ducted Teachers’ Training at CVTheadoffice.
Ms.Petraalsopaidatten-tion to classroom visits from re-spectiveprofessionsandconduct-edcompetencybasedtrainingforCVTteachers.Allteachersactivelyparticipated in the training. This
intensiveteachers’trainingcoversdifferentsubjects. Afterthetraining,atotalof39teachersandstaffenjoyedatrip toDawei,TanintharyiRegionfrom21stto25thNovember2018.
"Learning and Working" Together as a Team
CVTMyanmar has held a corpo-rate “Management Competen-cies, Leadership and ManagingConflictsworkshop"forallteach-ing and supporting membersduring December 8, 9, 11 and12,2018.Theworkshopcoveredmain topics such as “Guess yourPersonality Profile, Differencebetween Leader and Manager,CommunicationProficiency,Con-flict Management and HandlingStrategies". The workshop was
effectivelyconductedbythewell-experienced trainer Mr. P.S. Roy(Strategic learning Systems, Sin-gapore). CVT/ E4Y teachers andsupporting staff acted in twogroupsthroughoutthetwodays.The trainees participated active-ly and exchanged their experi-ence/ vision on how to developindividually and organizationallyas a team. Participantswere im-pressed of the different learning
activitiesandthevaluecontribu-tion of such a workshop, whichenablestohaveunderstandingonneedsoftheorganization,itsval-ue towards theorganization, im-portanceofindividualexcellence,team excellence and transmits aclear mindset to handle changemanagementintheirworkingen-vironmentkeepingtrackwithcur-rent changes and developmentsat the workplaceandthewholesociety.

On 10th November 2018, Minis-try of Labour, Immigration andPopulation,UnionMinister,SwissAgencyforDevelopmentandCo-operation(SDC)andCVTManage-ment Team successfully openedthenewPracticalTrainingCenter(PTC)inBawamyintQuarter,Thin-gangyunTownship.

Young Entrepreneurs for Myanmar Program Activities
Young Entrepreneurs for Myan-mar YE4M is a business trainingcourse for aspiring and existingyoung entrepreneurs in Myan-mar. It is offered by Center forVocational Training (CVT) in col-laboration with Swiss AcademyforDevelopment(SAD).Wehavebeen delivering trainings from2014 to 2018. There are a totalof 395 graduates. The programaimed at providing knowledgeandskillstoyoungentrepreneursand help them tomanage small
andmediumenterprisesmoreef-fectively. On16November2018YE4MGraduationCeremonywasheldsuccessfullyatNovotelHotelandtheprogramproducedatotalof33graduates,whoare16frombatch 15 and 17 from batch 16.Thenextbatchstartedon26Jan-uary 2019. In addition, a training for “TheFirst Time Manager” opened atVantage Luxury Yacht Hotel on15 and 16 December 2018. Thistrainingtargetstotransformhighpotential employees into highperformingmanagers,equipnewmanagers with the tools theyneedtosucceedandbuildafoun-dation for future organizationalgrowth.

Vocational Trainings in Rakhine StateImplemented by MRCS and CVT Myanmar
MyanmarRedCrossSociety(MRCS)andCenterforVocationalTraininginMyanmar(CVT)couldratifyMOUon11thDec2018toprovidefourvocationaltrainingsintwotownshipsofRakhineState.ThefirsttwotrainingstookplaceinDecemberandwillbefollowedbyothertwotrainings:oneforCabinetMakerandoneforMetalWorker.
1.Basic Electrical Wiring Installa-tion training (Sittwe): BasicElectricalWiringIn-stallation training started on 17th Dec2018atSittweTownshipwithselected 25 trainees who werewilling to learn more vocationalElectricaltraining.Thecandidateswere from Maung Daw and Bu-
teeTaungtownships.MRCSteamarranged accommodation andmeals allowances for the candi-dates,aswellasforCVTCertifiedInstructor.Theclassendedonthe9thofJanuary2019.Attheendofthe training, the traineeswill beable:
- To have basic electrical safetyawareness;- To be aware of electrical toolsknowledge;- To acquire wiring installationtechniqueskills;- To give electrical work instruc-tion.
2. Cooking & Services training (Minbya): Basic Food Cooking andServices training began on 12th December2018inMinbyaTown-ship, Rakhine state. MRCS teamcould select 25 candidates wholivenearvillagesofMinbyaTown-shipandtheyallwantedtoattendthetrainingbecausetheyarere-ally interested inkitchentrainingandplantoopentheirownsmallrestaurantsintheirtownships.
TwoCVTcertifiedinstruc-torshavetaughttheoryandprac-tical training to 25 women from12thDec2018to31stDec2018aspertofollowingobjectives.

UncleMax-OWeyisthefounderof Center for Vocational Training(CVTMyanmar). In2002,despitevariousdifficulties,heintroducedthe Swissmodel of dual appren-ticeship vocational training toMyanmar. It became his visionthat vocational qualifications of-
fered at CVTwill be adopted ona national level. Unexpectedly,Uncle Max passed away on 28th November 2008 in Sarnen, Swit-zerland. Even thoughUncleMaxalready passed away 10 years
ago, his words, good deeds andhard work are still inspiring us.We offered monks alms, robesandothernecessitiesatthemon-astery,forhisgooddeedsonthismemorialdaythisyear.
