Critical analysisRegarding to the article of Should mobile phones be banned from schools?, the author is trying to raise the issue on whether mobile phones gives boon or bane towards the school society along with the advancement of technology in this age. Author deem to hint out that he has a stand that mobile phone should not yet be circular in school when he sarcasms situation in his old school during the visit. He comment out that, teacher in the school accepted the decision to allow phone in the school boldly rather than being selectively aware of the bane. Stating quote from the text , several teachers immediately declared how useful they were in class show the blind support for the mobile phone. Author assuming that mobile tools will wreak havoc with concentration, unleash cyber bullying and surreptitiously video up teachers' skirts based on that text. Author tend to show up potential negative connotation without total study on the good side of the tools. Thus, author show that he is being bias on the bane side as he list out all the negative impact but lack on the good effect of the mobile and emphasizing by using the word such as curse, nightmare, disruptive, distress and trauma. The author portrays his own opinion of what had happened in the modern age to support his views. He adds up by stating the experts testimonies from the head of Burnage Media Arts College in Machester and the spokeswoman for Cockshut Hill Technology College in Yardley, east Birmingham whom had experienced the implications regarding the disruption of mobile phones caused. Besides that, the author also shows the statistics of the votes in favour of ban. In May, an online poll in the Guardian produced a three-to-one vote in favor of a ban. The poll was prompted by a statement by Sir Michael Wilshaw, the new chief inspector of schools and head of Ofsted, that mobiles in schools were disruptive. Moreover, the author shows also the statistics from the teachers union, the NASUWT. In the recent survey, 46% of its members identified mobiles as a cause of disruption and indiscipline. Lastly, he employs a research findings report by the Scottish government where the spokesman for teachers union the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), says that, "Mobile phones in the classroom can be disruptive."Based on the article, the supports are objective, that is due to the author made claims based on the facts and clear evidences. He shows the experts testimonies regarding the atrocious implication of applying the use of mobile phone in the class. He also states the statistics of votes in favor of ban in an online poll and the statistics from the teachers union, the NASUWT. He ends up by mentioning the research findings of Scottish government. All the evidences are real and can be checked.The argument in this article is greatly presented, the author has presents a counter-argument and the has rebutted the points and views of his own during the beginning of the article.He also has has reasoned out the article with both side and views. He has clearly elaborate both points though it is more towards his side, but he has explain the reason well. Thus, he has made the argument complete.The author has shown the article as generally valid as most of the support is relevant and verifiable. He claims that pupils are texting when they should be working, this statement were supported by the experts testimony and also backed up by the statistics from the newspaper. This evidences can be verified and checked to see the truth. The argument is generally credible to many because the author uses powerful and well-documented examples (Experts opinion such as Ian Fenn, head of Burnage Media Arts College in Manchester and statistics of newspaper Daily Mail). Although, the author has stated that Ofsted has supported the ban of mobile phone in the class, but admits that the issue is up to the schools management. Nevertheless, he has added the evidence by bringing a well suited evidence which is the statistics of the teachers union, the NASUWT which also supports his views. Lastly, he brought the relevant evidence by bringing the Scottish government view which is the research findings of the Scottish governmentThe method of reasoning used by the author is deductive as he start with general statement and follow up by specific evidence. This has been shown by author in way of expressing the content of the text by questioning the general issue of the text rather specify first the issue. He then deliberate the issue by mention the expert opinion, fact and statistic of the case.
