The process for completing the HMDA LAR will change dramatically in 2018. The number of data points will more than double, and the number of data fields will more than quadruple. In some cases input into existing data fields will change, and many new data fields will have to be completed. Also, for the first time there will be “free fill” fields where text can be entered rather than numeric codes. In this session, Hood will focus on the “what goes where and why” portion of the new HMDA regulation.

Self-testing is to determine whether the control group testers and target group testers receive the same treatment. Welch and Pinkston help participants understand lending patterns and emerging risks and how to identify and evaluate the risks through a risk assessment. The presenters will explore mapping and measuring the effectiveness of a Fair Lending program, including identifying and evaluating redlining risks, and how to ensure the effectiveness of a Fair Lending program.
4. Reg B & Reg E Patti Blenden, CRCM, founder/president, Financial Solutions Inc., Lake Lure, N.C.
ECOA and Reg B have been a hotbed of activity recently with lots of new critical datapoints to describe your customers! As the foundational law and regulation for fair lending analysis, they provide important data to characterize your lending activity. Patti Blenden will review the new data and discuss the need for you to tell your story, instead of waiting for the data alone to speak on your behalf. The lively discussion will also cover the most frequently violated sections of Reg B, including appraisal disclosures and provision of appraisal copies, joint intent acknowledgment, and other sensitive Reg B requirements. No discussion of customer affirmation hot spots would be complete without a dive into the world of Reg E overdraft consent! Blenden will focus on a recent enforcement action alleging a coercive approach to an overdraft consent.
