For general questions or assistance with this document, please contact the Examiner Help Desk:
FDIC Examiner Help Desk: [email protected] OR 1-877-334-2999, then option 2
Errors installing from ClickOnce Website: 1. Error 300
Resolution:
a. Add https://ets.fdic.gov to the trusted zone in Internet Explorer under Tools > Internet Options
> Security > Trusted Sites.
b. Alternatively, the user can save the Setup.exe file to the Desktop and then run. When this error
is received, the Virus Protection is set up so that executables are not allowed to run directly
from the ClickOnce Extranet site, but can be saved to the desktop and run.
c. This issue may also occur if certain pre-requisites are missing.
2. Error 302
Resolution:
Change the LAN settings on the Connections tab in Internet Explorer under Tools > Internet
Options > Connections > LAN Settings. Uncheck “Use a proxy server…” and check
“Automatically detect settings". Also, add https://ets.fdic.gov to the trusted zone in Internet
Explorer under Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites.
3. Error 303 -
Resolution:
a. Change the LAN settings on the Connections tab in Internet Explorer under Tools > Internet
Options > Connections > LAN Settings. Uncheck “Use a proxy server…” and check
“Automatically detect settings".
b. If the above does not work alone, also delete the user’s temporary internet files, restart the
browser, and try again.
c. On State or Fed user’s machines, antivirus programs may try to block the ets.exe
file/communications and the 303 error will appear when running the install. The antivirus
software needs to be configured to allow the ets.exe file; this may need to be completed by an
IT administrator. To verify the antivirus program is blocking the setup, open the Windows Event
Viewer and view the application logs.
4. Error 305 –
Resolution:
a. Verify .NET Framework is installed and there are no pending restarts on the machine.
b. Ensure ets.exe is added as a trusted site

SQL Server errors: 5. SUH when opening ETS for the first time. When ETS is first installed, the database is built and ETS
opened automatically. If there are other processes tying up the building of the database, this step
may fail and cause an unhandled exception.
Resolution: a. Close ETS (the process may still run after closing it; go into the task manager and make sure
that ETS.exe is closed)
b. Open SQL Server Management Studio and delete database ETS
c. Reopen ETS
d. If the steps above do not work, see #6 below.
6. Cannot open database: Use ETS-FREDDY to verify all prerequisites and configurations are installed
properly. Review ApplicationEvents.log for additional details.
Resolution:
a. Check to make sure the user’s name is a valid login and has the correct access to ‘dbcreator’ and
‘bulkadmin’
b. If the database doesn’t exist: When installing ETS prerequisites, technicians need to ensure all
setup files are run as administrator. Run ETS-FREDDY to verify proper pre-req installations.
c. If issue was only temporary, e.g. user receives this error the first few times but then it all of a
sudden is no longer an issue: It may be possible that there was a temporary disruption to the
Active Directory (AD) groups. Since SQL uses ETS, which is a nested group, the user may have
temporarily lost rights to the database.
d. If SQL Server was recently installed (and the computer was not rebooted), reboot and try again.
e. If the steps above do not work, delete the database and restart ETS.
f. If all else fails, uninstall and reinstall SQL Server.
7. “Execution of user code in the .NET Framework is disabled. Enable "clr enabled" configuration
option”
Resolution:
Contact your local system admin. Have the system admin login to SQL Server Management
Studio and enable clr. The admin can also run the following script: exec sp_configure
'clr_enable','1'
Error(s) Accepting Assets Users have reported the following error messages when attempting to accept assets into the portfolio.

Error(s) Printing 10. ETS Crashes/Freezes when Printing the ROE For this issue, users can receive two different errors:
a. With the ROE open, the user is trying to Print the entire report (File>Print). ETS will freeze or
become unresponsive, forcing users to restart ETS. Occasionally this error will be shown:
b. With the ROE open, the user is trying to use Print Preview. When browsing through pages (and
reaches the offending page) the user will receive a SUH
Resolution
The easiest way to identify the offending page is by using the Print Preview feature to identify the
problematic page. When using the Print Preview, move through pages until receiving the SUH. Open the
page and observe the text at the very bottom of the page. This text field is likely being split across two
pages (causing the error). To work around, modify text above/below to get text field onto one page. You
can also create a New Page and copy/paste the information from the template editor.

Error(s) Submitting/Receiving Review 11. Preview or Open Document and/or Constant Reconcile Changes
a. This issue is encountered when Reviewers are forced to open the ROE using “My local asset
data” (as selected in the image below).
.
b. Due to a defect in ETS, when opening the ROE using the Local Asset Data – the inbox review
package is not accepted/reject. As a result, users are forced to reconcile all of their own
changes each time they close/reopen the ROE.
Resolution
ETS Reviewers must go into the Inbox and REJECT the ALL Review packages, including the Out of Date
Review messages as well (see image below).

1. Open the Control Panel and navigate to Programs and Features
2. Find ETS from the list. Highlight and choose to Uninstall.
3. You can elect to completely remove the application, or restore to its previous state*
*Restoring to the previous state is essentially a rollback feature built into ETS. This option will only
be available if the computer had previously “upgraded” from a prior version. When selecting this
option, it will roll back ETS back to the prior version (i.e. ETS 1.1 ETS 1.0)
4. Once the process is complete, the dialog box (shown above) will close. Please go back to the
Programs and Features list and verify ETS has been uninstalled or rolled back to a prior version.

SQL Server creates on a periodic basis; which can be located at: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL10_50.FDIC2008\MSSQL\Backup
*Closing the existing connections, will just ensure that the ETS database is not in use under another
