With over 58 per cent of its land area under naturalforest, Malaysia is home to over 2,650 species, manyof which are of commercial importance. Malaysia'slocation in the tropics means that its trees have 365
growing days in a year. This allows the trees ampletime to grow and develop without seasonalinterruptions.
Apart from its intrinsic beauty, wood is highlyversatile, has good insulation properties and is strongyet easy to use. Malaysia has an endless selectionof timbers from which to choose. Malaysian timbershave been utilised in various applications, includinginterior designs. The multitude of colours availablerepresents an artists palette, enabling an endlessexpression of creativity.
Years of intensive R&D have resulted in the
introduction of renowned Malaysian timbers suchas Balau for decking, Merbau and Kempas forflooring, and Dark Red Meranti for doors andwindows. In addition, composite products such asLVL, plywood and MDF have also been produced andexported by Malaysian manufacturers. Malaysiascommitment to R&D ensures a continuous line ofinnovative, cost-efficient and environmentally friendlyproducts.
