familiarwithhowtousesoftwaretocreateshortanimations,itistimetocreatebegin
creatingclayanimationmoviesofyourown.
Togetyoustarted,thissectionofthetutorialwillallowyoutocreateashortclay
animatedmovieusingphotosalreadystoredonyourcomputer. Remember,thatclay
animationisaprocessinwhichyoumakesmallmovementsofclaycharacters,taking
picturesofeachsmallmovement. Onceyouhaveenoughphotostaken,youwillbeable
tostitchallofthephotostogethertocreateananimation.
Justsothatyouareawareofhowsmallthemovementsmustbeforeachphotograph,
letstakealookateachofthephotographsinthesampleanimationthatyouwillcreate.

Thisfoldercontains323photos,whichyouwillusetocreateyousampleanimation.
Youwillnoticethateachphotohasverysmallmovementscomparedwiththephoto
beforeit. Carefullyexaminejusthowsmallthemovementsbetweeneachofthe
photographsinthisfolder. Theprogramthatyouwillusewillneedeightofthese
photographstocreateonesecondofyourclayanimation.

ImportingPhotographstoCreateYourMovie
1. Tocreateyourmovie,youwillbeusingWindowsMovieMaker. Locatethefollowingicononyourdesktopanddoubleclickonittoopentheprogram.
2. OnceWindowsMovieMakerisopen,youwillneedtocreateaNewCollectiontoimportallofyourclipsinto. Todothis,rightclickontheCollectioniconandchoose
New
Collection.
3. YouwillnoticethataNewCollectionappearsunderneaththeCollectionsFolder.
Callthisfolder: Butterfly

4. WiththeButterflyCollectionselected,gotheFileMenu>> ChooseImportintoCollections
5. In the ImportWindow go to the following folders to locate the photos for yoursampleanimation.
MyComputer 2641_Stu(S:)Drive SharedDataFiles Technology ClayAnimationFiles ButterflyFolder
6. Once in the Butterfly Folder youwillseeallofthephotosrequiredtomake
the Butterfly Clay Animation movie.
SingleClick on the first image in the
folder, andpressCTRLA to select all
of the images in the folderasbelow.
Once all of the images are select,
PressImport.

UnderEditMovieHeading,giveyourButterflyAnimationaTitleandCredits.
15.Saveyourcompletedsampleanimationinyourfolder.Makesurethatyouhaveaddedatitleandcreditstotheanimation.

1. Youcanrecordavoiceoverforyouranimationaswell. Putyouratthebeginningofyourmovieinthetimeline. ClickontheNarrateTimelinebutton.Whenyouare
readytorecordyourvoiceoverforthetitle,clickonStartNarration.
2. Whenyouhaverecordedyournarrationyouwillbeaskedtosaveyournarration.SavethisnarrationinyourBBTFolder. Onceitissavedinyourfolder,youwillnotice
thatitappearsintheAudio/MusicTimelineofyouanimation.
3. ClickonPlaytopreviewmoviewiththeNarration. Ifnecessary,deletethenarrationand
