A Peek at the Week

Math

• We  are  continuing  to  work  with  tape  diagrams  for  both  multiplication  and  division  word  problems.    

• Key  Vocabulary:  Factor,  quotient,  product,  tape  diagram.  

Reading • We are continuing to build our classroom

community, learning how to share our ideas with partners, and putting our thinking into words (both verbally and on paper).

Writing • We are discussing what are the important

parts of writing authors include, and what strategies do they use during the editing process. Next week, we will begin our Narrative writing unit.

Science • We have discussed all of the 6 stages of a

Salmon’s lifecycle, and spent time painting our interpretation of the life cycle.

• Week  of  October  9th:  We  will  be  making  our  Salmon  T-­‐shirts  for  our  fieldtrip.  

• October  23rd:  Teacher  workday;  no  school  for  students.  

• October  30th:  Salmon  Field  trip  (from  around  9:30-­‐11:30)  

• October  30th:  Vision  and  Hearing  screenings  at  Grand  Ridge.    

Announcements

• The Orange Ruler fun run will be on the afternoon of October 4th! Our class finished 2nd place for the fundraiser and has earned a Kona Ice Party! Woo!

• Remember to send a white t-shirt with your child’s name written inside to school on or before October 9th for our Salmon Field trip.

• Your child’s F&P reading levels were sent home on Friday on paper with links to helpful websites.
