CiamisRegencyisaregencyinWestJava,Indonesia.Priortotheseparationofpartofthisregencyin2012,ithadanareaof2,556.75kmandpopulationof1,528,306(atthe2010Census)theregencywasuntil2012dividedinto36districts.ItscapitalisCiamis.However,asfrom25October2012,theexistingregencyhasbeensplit,with10districtscomprisingthesouthernportionbeingformedintoanewPangandaranRegency(witha2010Censuspopulationof383,848),leaving26districtsintheresidualCiamisRegency.

Touristdestinations
In2011CiamisRegencywasboostingthe(new)touristdestinationswithanideaofmakinganewRegencyinthesouthern10districtsoftheregency,southofthe'(virtual)isthmus'(pleaseseethelocatormap)wheretherewerealreadypopulartouristdestinations(e.g.PangandaranBeach).TheseparatePangandaranRegencywassplitoffin2012.
UptoendofMay2014(5months),CiamisRegencyareonlyvisitedby156,423domestictouristsandjust3foreigntouristsasspillofffromPangandaranBeach.ThecountingisasignificantdropcomparedtowhenPangandaranisstillbelongofCiamisRegency,becauseCiamisRegencyuntilnowhasnotyetaffordabletouristsite,mainlyforforeigntourists.[1]
Administration
PriortotheseparationofPangandaranRegencyasaseparateregency,therewere36districts(kecamatan)withinCiamisRegency.Sixofthesedistricts(Baregbeg,Lumbung,Mangunjaya,Purwadadi,SindangkasihandSukamantri)hadbeencreatedbetweenthepreviousCensusof2000andthemorerecentCensusof2010.
