GOD IS THE THREE BONES
In the book Apple Seeds, there is a story about an Irishman seeing his son off on a ship leaving for America and a new life. As his father was saying good-bye, he said, “Son, remember the three bones and you will make it in America.”
A stranger, overhearing the comment, asked the father what he meant… “There are three important bones…the wishbone, the jawbone, and the backbone. It’s the wishbone that keeps you going after your dreams. It’s the jawbone that helps you find out how to go after them, if you are not too proud to ask questions, and it’s the backbone that keeps you going until you get there.”
The moral of the story is we need to recognize our dreams and to act on them. But we also have to understand that we don’t have all the answers. We will always need others to help us along the way, so that we don’t cave in and lose our dreams.
The wishbone…all of us have plans and dreams. These dreams keep us going, and we want to succeed. Some never give up and fight off every obstacle and make their dreams come true. However, some give up too early and never find their way. Maybe God could have helped.
The jawbone…once we know what we want in life, we must pursue it to the ultimate end. It may take a good education, working long hours, living on pennies, but in the end, we will succeed. Others give up because they feel drained and exhausted. Maybe God could have helped.
The backbone…this is the most important bone. Don’t give up and keep on going no matter how rough it gets. Put up with all the problems, and you will succeed. Some just quit. Maybe God could have helped.
Follow your dreams. Nothing comes easy in this life. If you work hard, you will succeed; however, you will never make it without God. Let God work with you, and you will find out that…
GOD IS THE THREE BONES.
Missionary Cooperative Program Every year the Archdiocese of Miami asks us to support the Missionary Cooperative Program whose goal is to give an opportunity for our parishes to collaborate financially with missions throughout the world and to inspire the faithful to reflect upon their missionary call. Through this program, we welcome missionary dioceses and communities for whom this is a vital source of support. This year the Archbishop has invited Amor en Acción to send a missionary representative to visit our parish next weekend, July 1 and 2. to make their Mission Appeal. Amor en Acción is a volunteer missionary group committed to projects of evangelization, education, nutrition and development in several communities in Haiti and Dominican Republic, who are suffering poverty and oppression.
Our parishioners are invited to support this Special Collection generously
and enthusiastically.
During the week of June 25 the Parish Pilgrim Virgin will be in the home of:
