CHATEAU MALBATBORDEAUX Rouge (Red)

Ownership & history:Alphonse Rochet bought Château Malbat in1865 during the reign of Napoléon III andalso during the phylloxera epidemic. In spiteof the fact that these were troubled times forthe wines of Bordeaux, Alphonsesucceeded in building the foundations of thevineyard, which has since been passed onfrom generation to generation. Today,Fabienne, Martine and Daniel Rochetmanage the familly estate and intend topass it on to the next generation.

Vineyard & location:The vineyard stretches across the limestoneslopes of La Réole. The oceanic climatebrings high levels of both humidity andsunshine, leading to wines with the complexbouquet that is special to Bordeaux.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:Cold maceration in vats in order to obtainthe best tannins, making for a rounder wine.Over the next month, the alcoholicfermentation takes place, followed by themalolactic fermentation which eliminatesany sourness. In April, the wine istransferred to stainless steel vats.

Tasting:Lovely deep purple colour. Ripe fruitaromas, particularly cherry and plum.Elegant, fruity and supple body, with roundtannins and a smooth finish.

Blend:95% Merlot5% Cab. Sauvignon

Cellaring potential:Up to 10 years
