The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police in partnership with St. Elizabeth University is proud to offer a “Certificate in International Leadership Studies.” This Certificate is available to attendees of specific NJSACOP courses, in addition to a “capstone” course offered by St. Elizabeth University.
The Certificate is comprised of modules designed to discuss, explore, and educate participants in the field of leadership, management and administration in a global context, focused upon lessons drawn from organizations chartered for dangerous missions. These modules help to provide the skills and competencies to deal with contemporary leadership challenges impacting criminal justice organizations.
Module A: “NJSACOP Senior Leaders Seminar”* or “NJSACOP Advanced Professional Policing Practices Course” Module B: “NJSACOP Normandy/D-Day Leadership Experience” or “NJSACOP Battle of the Bulge Leadership Experience”
Module C: “NJSACOP Gettysburg Leadership Staff Ride” or “Antietam Leadership Staff Ride”
Module D: “Capstone”
The Modules may be completed in any order, with
the exception of Module D [Capstone], which is the
final course in the Certificate series.
Module D will be taught online in an accelerated 7-
week program individually [not in a cohort].
Capstone Description: This course requires students to complete an original research project grounded in the field of criminal justice. Each student will design and complete an action research project that broadens and deepens the student’s awareness and appreciation of the need to apply community base, social justice perspectives to one’s professional endeavors. In completing these projects, students must demonstrate an ability to define, analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions for resolving an issue, problem, or potential opportunity of interest and importance to the community. Students may periodically share with one another their project goals, challenges, and progress at-tained. Each student will complete a substantial research paper discussing the objectives, research, and outcomes of his/her project. The project topics and research methods employed will be developed through individual consultations and collaborative discussions with the seminar’s instructor. All projects must receive faculty approval first.

Three graduate credits can be awarded for an additional fee upon completion of the Capstone project
which can be applied toward SEU's Graduate Program in Justice Administration and Public Service.
