Redistricting Data Program
• Public Law 94-171 enacted in 1975
• Outgrowth of 1960’s court decisions on “One-Person/One-Vote” and 1965 Voting Rights Act
• State legislatures can receive data according to local definitions to ease planning new district boundaries
• First look at racial/ethnic profile of local community
