PROGRAM SCHEDULE

The Advanced Program in Human Resources Management (APHRM) is Canada’s

leading HR certificate program designed for mid-to-senior level HR executives.

The program provides a sophisticated understanding of strategic management and

explores how to link organizational strategy to HR best practices. The result is an

organization with the HR expertise and systems that build competitive advantage

and drive success. The Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and

the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa have partnered to deliver

the Advanced Program in Human Resources Management in Ottawa.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The Advanced Program in Human Resources

Management consists of four five-day modulesspread over six months. Each module isdesigned to build on the knowledge of theprevious module. The time between the modulesallows participants to apply the theories, modelsand tools they learned in class back on the job.Participants are taught to think critically andapply theory to practice.

The learning approach includes negotiationexercises, team-building, case analysis, lectures,simulations, group work and examinations.

ACADEMIC DIRECTORDan Ondrack is a formermember of the Board, Vice-President and Director ofProfessional EducationStandards for the HumanResources ProfessionalAssociation of Ontario.

He was also a member of the Board and Vice-President of the International Institute of HumanResources, Society for Human ResourceManagement in the USA. He is currently anhonorary professor at the European Institute forAdvanced Studies in Management in Belgium,and was a visiting professor at the GroningenUniversity in the Netherlands, the LondonBusiness School, INSEAD in France and theUniversity of Hong Kong.

His main research interests are the relationshipbetween corporate strategy, management ofmergers, human resources strategy andinternational human resources management. A current research project is a comparative studyof human resources management in Canada andin a variety of countries in Asia and Europe.

The Telfer School of Management has partneredwith the Rotman School of Management todeliver the APHRM course in downtown Ottawaat the Centre for Executive Leadership in theWorld Exchange Plaza. This partnership allowsHR professionals in Ottawa to benefit from thishighly rated course at a convenient location.Classes will be taught by faculty from both Schoolsof Management, under the leadership of ProfessorDan Ondrack, the Rotman Academic Director.
