8CDDA AGM 2007
Stage 3 Concept
25mm crown Height
Engineering Task: Bit that lasts significantly longer in the hole
Challenge: Increasing crown height without losing structural integrity
3 Stage design
Creation of staggered 8.5mm waterways. As the bit wears a new stage of waterways is revealed. Waterways in next stage open before the previous stage finishes.
Face design equals the same area as an Express geometry. Longer segments also allow for increase gauge protection.
Productivity
The face design has also proven to be more efficient. The increase penetration rate is a result of the improved balance between surface contact and flushing ports.
9CDDA AGM 2007
Stage 3 Value Proposition
– Results to date have seen improvement in bit life in excess of 2x and in many cases 3x +.
– Less rod tripping to change out the bit, holes are completed in less time.
– Unique design offers both improved meters / shift and increased bit life.
