We’re talking about this tantalizing; haunting; confusing idea of
When it comes to happiness, we all want it; we hunger for it; we search for it; we’re just not so
sure how to !
Which is ironic because every day, all around us; in subtle and obvious ways, somebody is trying
to sell us HAPPINESS
But in the end so often we end up, and we feel like makes us truly hap-

But maybe our real problem not that happiness is nothing, but that Happiness is no ;
In other words, Happiness isn’t a WHAT but a WHO
So if stuff doesn't make us happy, just what DOES? In a word, !
So they come to Jesus and say, “So just what’s REALLY the point?”
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment.
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jesus says PEACE is ultimately found in . PEACE starts with peace
with God; It grows into peace with the next person and ends with peace with yourself.
The killer of PEACE (and Happiness) is . Not misbehaviors; not just our self-
ish acts; not just the total of our mess ups, but a broken RELATIONSHIP.
Where PEACE naturally unites and brings HAPPINESS, SIN naturally divides and brings
SIN divides us from a relationship with GOD; SIN divides us from a relationship with ;
SIN divides us from a relationship with ONE ANOTHER.
But where SIN divides, FORGIVESS and brings peace. Peace with yourself;
peace with the next person; and ultimately Peace with God.

forgiveness, your life has PEACE.

Moment for Missions TODAY is Sister Peg Spindler speaking for Sojourner Truth House. All change
in our offering and any marked envelopes will be donated to Sojourner Truth House.
Monthly Blood Pressure Check Today! Blood pressure screening in Fellowship Hall is offered from
9 - 11 a.m. every 2nd Sunday of the month (today!) It’s best to avoid caffeine right before the
test as it can raise your pressure. This is a free, confidential service of our congregations’ nurses.
Quarterly Giving Statements are in the Narthex. We appreciate you picking yours up as it saves
the church on postage.
Emmaus Reunion will be meeting the first Monday of July and August. We will return to our normal
schedule of the first and third Mondays in September.
We are planning a Kids’ Mission Work Day for Tuesday, July 25 from 10:30 am—12 noon. The kids
assemble bags that are distributed to local homeless shelters. It's a really great opportunity to in-
volve your family in a fun, practical, charitable event. To prepare for the event, we are asking for
donations of the following: mouthwash, laundry softener sheets, bars of soap, hand lotion, individ-
ual powdered drink mixes, deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, socks,
lip balm, razors, feminine hygiene items, and laundry pods. Lunch will be served.
Can't wait to see you there!
NEW Church Office Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am-4 pm.
We like to give our regular Sunday School teachers a summer break. Please consider signing up
to teach a Sunday School class this summer! Everything you need is provided and it's fun to con-
nect with our kids! Even teaching one class for one Sunday is a huge help. You can even teach
a class with a friend! To sign up, please use the tear off tab, sign up downstairs in the Gathering
Room or email Kim Smith at [email protected].
Stephen Ministries: Christ Caring for People through People Our Stephen Ministry program equips
lay persons to provide distinctively Christian, one-to-one care to anyone in our congregation or
community who is going through a difficult time and in need of support from a Christian friend.

Traditional Service Hymns (8 and 11 am) Matthew 22:32-40, pg. 804
#395 Take Time To Be Holy Genesis 3:8-12, pg. 2
#534 Be Still My Soul
#140 Great Is Thy Faithfulness
We’re talking about this tantalizing; haunting; confusing idea of
When it comes to happiness, we all want it; we hunger for it; we search for it; we’re just not so
sure how to !
Which is ironic because every day, all around us; in subtle and obvious ways, somebody is trying
to sell us HAPPINESS
But in the end so often we end up, and we feel like makes us truly hap-
py.
But maybe our real problem not that happiness is nothing, but that Happiness is no ;
In other words, Happiness isn’t a WHAT but a WHO
So if stuff doesn't make us happy, just what DOES?
SIN divides us from a relationship with GOD; SIN divides us from a relationship with ;
SIN divides us from a relationship with ONE ANOTHER.
But where SIN divides, FORGIVESS and brings peace. Peace with yourself;
peace with the next person; and ultimately Peace with God.
Because HAPPINESS isn’t a WHAT It’s a , and when your WHO is the giver of
forgiveness, your life has PEACE.
