Silver Awards Nativity Alumnae Raise Dementia Awareness November is National Alzheimer’s Month, and two Nativity School alumnae and current Visitation freshmen have put their talents to the service of families with loved ones facing dementia as part of their Girl Scout Silver Award projects with troop 53827. Edie Weinstein has authored and published Grandpa & Lucy: A Story about Love and Dementia (pictured at right), which includes illustrations by Nativity alumnae Claire Aamodt, Addie Cooper, Will Hoppe, Ela Paske, Caroline Weier, Edie, and Shane Zenk—and is available in paperback on Amazon.com! Maggie McConville (pictured in pink at right, with Edie) has designed and created dementia conversation kits, a personalized compilation of words and pictures meant to inspire conversation and connection with those suffering from dementia. Both items will be on display at next weekend’s Donut Sunday in the school cafeteria immediately following the 8:15am and 9:30am Masses.

Publishing Early Bulletin Deadlines Please note the following early deadline for submissions to the bulletin: November 26 Bulletin: Submissions are due by noon on
Thursday, November 16.
From the Hip A Message from Our Pastor, Fr. Patrick Hipwell Dear Parishioners and Friends, As we approach the time of stewardship renewal, please continue to prayerfully reflect on Nativity’s theme for this stewardship month: Grateful and Generous. How can we respond to God’s many blessings by gratefully returning our gifts to him? In today’s Gospel reading of the parable of the ten wedding guests, the wise virgins were careful and thoughtful planners. They brought extra oil for the lamps. The foolish virgins did not, so when they ran low, they had to go to the merchant, and missed their chance to attend the wedding feast. The stewardship lesson in this parable is simple: Through baptism, we are committed to discipleship—a faith-filled kind of life. And that life will not just come about without planning, thoughtfulness and intentionality on our part. We have to decide to use the time, talent, and treasure we’ve been given in grateful and generous ways in order to be prepared to meet the Bridegroom. In further reflection of this theme, I am so grateful for the generosity of a Nativity family who financed the entire project of replacing the worn, damaged wood on the church’s cross aisle with stone quarry tile. The new quarry tile beautifully matches and complements the other main aisles of the church. The project was undertaken during a very busy time in the church, and I thank each one of you for your patience during the time of construction. Christ’s blessings on your week. Fr. Patrick Hipwell, Pastor

After a year of preparation, including a day of retreat on October 26 with the NET team and a beautiful Confirmation Vigil on November 3, 102 students from Nativity’s School and Faith Formation program were Confirmed by Archbishop Hebda last Sunday, November 5. Our parish community welcomes and congratulates these young men and women who have opened their hearts to this greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Let’s continue to pray for the release of these graces in their lives as they venture forth in witness to our Catholic Faith. Come, Holy Spirit!
