FHIR-Based Exchange Update

FHIR Updateo Completed the first “official” iteration of the FHIR Implementation Guide
in June

o Over the course of the last 3 months, we’ve been incorporating feedback from the Implementer Community and other committees/groups
o We believe that the Technical section is complete
o Some finishing touches are needed on Policy sections around non-discrimination and fees and aim to have it 100% complete by EOM
o Current timeline goals:
1. Next month (October), we’d like to have the Advisory Council recommend it for adoption by the Steering Committee
2. Then have the Steering Committee formally adopt V1 of the IG for production use at its November meeting
• After these 2 events occur, it will be an official Carequality Element

Policy Workgroup
o Close to completion of the policy section of the Push Notifications IG
o Discussion topics include:• Incorporating policy
elements: CEQ FHIR and Query IGs
• Notification Type/Trigger definitions with a focus on setting
• Current work focuses on the Push as an independent Use Case
Technical Workgroup
o Continues its collaborative work
• Incorporating CEQ FHIR IG security elements
• Drafting – Full FHIR IG
• Adding to message payload to account for CMS requirements
• Updating approach based on Backport

o The group has been reassembled to consider feedback from the Implementer community
– Group was expanded to include members of the Bi-weekly Implementer call
o The group has integrating conclusions from the Onboarding Taskforce

o Two of our early adopters, AmbraHealth and Philips, continue partnertesting and validation of the Image Exchange IG Supplement
o After official “connectathon” events in August, testing between the twoorganizations has continued informally
o Issues that arise in testing are being evaluated as potential gaps in theImage Exchange IG Supplement
o The Image Exchange project remains open for additional participants
