very important to us. Rainforest s are located near the equator. They need water, heat and rain to be a rainforest. They are located in Asia, Australia, South and Central America. There are many different animals and plants. That’s why rainforests are important to us.
Forest Floor and UnderstoryThe forest floor
and understory are the lowest layers . The forest floor is full of life. It is very dark in the forest floor and understory. It has most of the biggest animals there. It is very humid.
Canopy and EmergentThe canopy
and emergent layer are the highest layers. It is full of birds and butterflies. Most of the frogs live there.
Introduction and AppearanceCapybaras are large rodents with a large body. They have short legs. Their bodies are covered in shaggy brown fur. They have flat top heads which small ears and large teeth.
Products and Supplies
We get many things from the Rainforest , like cocoa, coffee and vanilla. The Rainforest is very important to us.
Habitat
Capybaras live in South and Central America. They live on the forest floor of the rainforest. They also live near ponds.
Diet
Capybaras eat grass, tree bark, and water plants. It drinks water with its meal. They don’t eat or drink much. It slurps its water like a human. It mostly eats grass.
Predators and Prey
Capybaras are eaten by jaguars, but eagles, snakes and humans hunt them too. They are prey to a couple of big animals.
Adaptations
Capybaras need fur to survive because of the cold rain. With out fur they’ll die. Water will also help capybaras because they need to survive.
Interesting Facts
Capybaras bark to warn other animals. Capybaras have webbed feet and are also good swimmers. It has big sharp teeth.
