InterestingFeaturesSchool CouncilOur parent council isvery active. They takepart in a variety offundraising activities andvolunteer opportunitiesthroughout our school. Meetings take placemonthly at 7:00 p.m. inthe staffroom. Specificdates of the meetingswill be listed in ournewsletter and postedon our web site. All parents are welcometo join and take part inour School Council.  

Cameron is a safe and caring community based school,committed to teaching the personal value of each individual andenhancing their joy of learning. Cameron Public School is locatedin the close-knit community west of Yonge Street and south ofBurnett Avenue, new for September, 2013. The school first opened in 1949 and was expanded in 1953,1954, 1968 and 1986 to include a gymnasium and additionalclassroom space.  A new computer lab was added in 2005. Technology is a key area of focus.  We currently have 3 and arecontinuing to purchase SmartBoards to compliment classroomprogramming. A new state-of-art rubber floor was installed in ourgym during the summer of 2010

School Focus For This Year- Incorporating literacy instruction intothe content areas in the JuniorDivision to provide more time fordirect reading and writing instruction- Focusing on literacy in the Primaryand Junior Division to promote higherorder thinking skills andindependence- Implementing current research on the most effective ways toteach; use of anchor charts, differentiated instruction- Integrating information technology into classroom programming- Building community in our school- Develop an understanding of social justice

Cameron is very fortunate to have a very active and involvedparent community. Our parents volunteer in the classroom,coordinate fundraising events, and also maintain acommunity skating rink.
