My DIET: kangaroo rats cottontail rabbits black-tailed jackrabbits meadow voles hares prairie dogs insects lizards snakes fish ground-dwelling birds mice antelope squirrel vegetation & grasses
My APPEARANCE:large ears,2.8-3.75 inches, great hearing to
beware of predatorsgray coat with rusty tints; back is darker while
belly & inner ears are lighter; dark patches around the nose
body is 18-21 in.bushy, 9.85-13.4 in. tailcoat camouflages with surroundings

My SELF DEFENSE:digging escape burrows where they hunker
down until it's safe to come out
WHERE I LIVE San Joaquin Valley (mostly on the
southeastern part)

FACT-a-THONI am the smallest species of the fox to be found in
America, weighing only 5 pounds I don’t need freshwater to survive, since it’s in my
food. My large ears might help dissipate body heat and
detect tiny noises/sounds. I’m one of a kind- an umbrella species(protecting
my habitat will save other animals too)! I can move between 30 different dens and roam 9
miles in search of food at night. Carrizo Plain is where the largest kit fox, my
relative, lives. nocturnal animals
