Bulgaria has a unique geographical position. My country is situated in the
remote southeast corner of Europe – the Balkan Peninsula. It has been a full member of NATO and the European
Union.

location. Since ancient times, the country has served as a major
crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa.
The Balkan Peninsula
It borders five other countries: Romania to the north, Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia to the west,
and Greece and Turkey to the south. The Black Sea defines the extent of
the country to the east.
