Administrator Tasks The FM:Interact administrator, completes the following tasks to support creating content for dashboards:
• Ensure FM:Interact views and reports to be used in dashboards are permissioned to the appropriate FM:Interact roles.
• Ensure any image files to be referenced in dashboards are present in the FMInteract/images folder on the web application server.
• Ensure any HTML content files are available.

Lesson Introduction In the following activities you will be
creating dashboards for use in
FM:Interact. Dashboards are used as an
alternative to HTML pages for Role,
Module, Site or Building homepages and
can also contain FM:Interact Views and
Reports as elements.
Note This course uses the content created
in the FM:Interact – Content for
Dashboards Activity Guide. If those tasks
have not been completed the needed
HTML blocks may be found in an alternate
folder.
Process: Stage Description
1 Collect images files you will include in the dashboard content.
2 Ensure images have been placed on the web server in the appropriate directory: <Web Instance>/FMInteract/images
3 Ensure any Views or reports to be used as dashboard elements have been created and permissioned to the appropriate roles in FM:Interact.
4 Create the dashboard template with the size and element layout desired.
5 Design the dashboard, identifying the Roles that can use the dashboard and placing the desired elements into the selected template.
7 Preview and publish the dashboard.
8 Assign the dashboard to the role, module, site or building homepage desired.

Activity 1: Create a dashboard
template with a single frame…
Step 1: Add a new dashboard
template 1. Login to FM:Interact as:
Username: Administrator Password: fms
2. Navigate to: System Administration -
> Manage Dashboards -> Template
Designer
3. Click: Add
4. Enter the details:
Name: 800x600 Single Frame Description: 800x600 Single Frame Width: 800 Height: 600
5. Click: OK
6. Result – a single frame 800x600
report template is created.
7. Click: Save
8. Confirm the name and description by
clicking: Save

Activity 2: Design a dashboard
using an FM:Interact View…
Step 1: Create a new dashboard… 1. Login to FM:Interact as:
Username: Administrator Password: fms
2. Navigate to: System Administration -
> Manage Dashboards -> Dashboard
Designer
3. Click: Create New Dashboard
4. Select the template “800x600
Single Frame”
5. Click: Create Dashboard
6. Result – the dialogue box “Select
roles for Views, Reports” is shown

Step 2: Select the roles for the
dashboard Views and Reports… 7. Select (place a check beside) the roles
Move Users.
8. Click: Save
9. Result – the dashboard designer
window is displayed.

Step 3: Place elements into the
dashboard frames… 10. Click the arrow beside FMI Views to
expand the list of available views.
11. Click the arrow beside Move
Management to expand the list of
available views.
12. Drag and drop the “New Move
Request” View from the list onto the
dashboard canvas.
13. Result – “New Move Request” is
displayed in the middle of the canvas
to show the view has been placed.
14. Click: Save
15. In the “Save Dashboard” dialogue box
enter:
Name: New Move Request
Dashboard
Description: New Move Request
Dashboard
16. Click: Save
17. Result – the “Select Roles” dialogue
box is displayed

Step 4: Select the roles that can
use the dashboard and publish
the dashboard… 18. In the “Select Roles” dialogue box
select (place a check beside) all the
roles that you want to be able to
assign this dashboard to. In this
example select:
a. Administrators
b. Move Admins
c. Move Liaisons
d. Move Managers
e. Move Planners
f. Move Users
19. Click: Save and Close
20. Result – the dashboard is displayed in
the “Dashboard Management” page.
21. Click the symbol to publish the
dashboard.
22. Result – the symbol changes to
and the dashboard is now published.

Move Module Homepage…

Activity 3: Assign a dashboard
as an FM:Interact Module
homepage…
Step 1: Assign the dashboard as
the Move Module homepage… 1. Login to FM:Interact as:
Username: Administrator Password: fms
2. Navigate to: System Administration -
> Manage Dashboards -> Assign
Dashboards -> Modules
3. Expand Move Management by click
on the plus sign.
4. Place a checkmark in the “Assign” box
for “New Move Request Dashboard”
5. Click the radio button under “Default”
to make it the default homepage for
the Move Module.

Step 2: Select the roles that will
use the dashboard and save… 6. Click the “Select Roles” button to
select the roles this dashboard will be
displayed for. Result – the “Select
Roles” dialogue box is displayed.
7. In the ‘Select Roles” dialogue box
select (place a checkmark beside) all
of the available roles (including
Administrator which is not visible in
the image here).
8. Click: Save
9. In the “Assign Dashboards to
Modules” page click: Save
10. Result – A “…assignments were saved
successfully” dialogue box is
displayed.
11. Click: OK

Step 3: Verify the new module
homepage… 12. Log out of FM:Interact
13. Login to FM:Interact as:
Username: Administrator Password: fms
14. Navigate to: Move Management
15. Result – the FM:Interact View “New
Move Request” is displayed as the
homepage for the Move Management

Activity 4: Create a dashboard
template with multiple
frames…
Step 1: Add a new dashboard
template 1. Login to FM:Interact as:
Username: Administrator Password: fms
2. Navigate to: System Administration -
> Manage Dashboards -> Template
Designer
3. Click: Add
4. Enter the details:
Name: 800x600 Multiple Frames Description: 800x600 Multiple Frames Width: 800 Height: 600
5. Click: OK
Step 2: Divide the dashboard
canvas into frames… 6. Click on the dashboard… notice the
Horizontal and Vertical buttons are
now active.

7. Click: Horizontal Result – the
dashboard canvas is divided evenly
horizontally into two frames.
8. Click on the dashboard above the line.
9. Click: Vertical Result – the upper
frame is divided evenly into two
frames.
10. Click and drag the horizontal line
closer to the top of the canvas.
11. Click and drag the vertical line closer
to the left of the canvas (refer to the
image).

12. Create a Vertical partition in the
lower frame of the canvas.
13. Create a Horizontal partition in the
bottom left frame of the canvas.
14. Finally create a Vertical partition in
the middle-left frame of the canvas.
15. Click and drag the partitions until they
resemble the layout pictured.
16. Click: Save
17. On the “Save Template” dialogue box,
click: Save
18. Result – the dashboard template is
saved.

Activity 5: Design a dashboard
using web parts and a report…
Step 1: Create a new dashboard… 1. Login to FM:Interact as:
Username: Administrator Password: fms
2. Navigate to: System Administration -
> Manage Dashboards -> Dashboard
Designer
3. Click: Create New Dashboard
4. Select the template “800x600
Multiple Frames”
5. Click: Create Dashboard
6. Result – the dialogue box “Select
roles for Views, Reports” is shown

Step 2: Select the roles for the
dashboard Views and Reports… 1. Select (place a check beside) the roles
Everyone.
2. Click: Save
3. Result – the dashboard designer
window is displayed.

Step 3: Place elements into the
dashboard frames… 1. Click the arrow beside URL Links to
expand the list of options.
2. Drag and drop the “Add local file”
from the list onto the dashboard top-
left frame.
3. Result – “Upload File” dialogue box
appears.
4. Click: Browse and locate the file
C:\Training Files\Dashboard
Files\Content for Dashboard
Blocks\logo.html
5. Click: OK
6. Result – the html file is copied to the
FM:Interact server and the file name
appears in the frame.

7. Place remaining elements as shown
on the picture:
a. Logo.html (placed in previous
step)
b. Welcome_Msg.html
c. SpaceImage.html
d. MyLinks.html
e. USA.htm
f. 2.70 Site Utilization (Note this
is a report and is found in the
“Designer Toolbar” under
Reports->Space
Management.)
8. Click: Save Result – the “Save
Dashboard” dialogue box appears.
9. In the “Save Dashboard” dialogue box
enter:
Name: Training Homepage Description: Training Homepage
10. Click: Save
11. Result – the “Select Roles” dialogue
box is displayed.

use the dashboard and publish
the dashboard… 1. In the “Select Roles” dialogue box
select (place a check beside) all the
roles that you want to be able to
assign this dashboard to. In this
example select:

3. Result – the dashboard is displayed in
the “Dashboard Management” page.

2. Navigate to: System Administration -
> Manage Dashboards -> Assign
Dashboards -> Homepage
3. Expand Administrators Role by click
on the plus sign.
4. Place a checkmark in the “Assign” box
for “Training Homepage” dashboard.
5. Click the radio button under “Default”
to make it the default homepage for
the Administrator Role.
6. Click: Save
7. On the Save dialogue box click: OK
