The Department of Environmental Science,Tezpur University was established in theyear 2004. The Department offers M.Sc. andPh.D. programmes. The mission of theDepartment is to impart knowledge throughquality teaching and research to answerfundamental questions before mankindpertaining to environmental challenges witha special focus on contemporary nationalneeds. The Department has earnedrecognition by receiving financial supportunder UGC-SAP and DST-FIST. Severalresearch projects funded by national andinternational agencies have beenundertaken by the faculty members of theDepartment

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The world got together to address the challenges of preservingand enhancing the human environment at the Stockholm 1972.Ever since, new environmental issues and challenges areemerging before the world community. As the scientificcommunity engaged with the issues, newer understanding andtechnologies emerged which enabled us to confront suchchallenges with the hope to overcome. The multifaceted natureof environmental issues has pulled researchers from diversedisciplines to a multidisciplinary research regime which isEnvironmental Science and Technology. Today, the society isfacing environmental challenges of local, regional and globaldimensions in the forms of physical, chemical, biological, andsocioeconomic nature, which demand cutting edge research andpolicy initiatives. It is pertinent for the researchers to haveawareness of what the contemporaries from different corners ofthe world are working on and build collaborations, and engagewith the issues in a concerted manner. The international conference has been envisaged to drawattention of the scientific community engaged in varied aspectsof the environmental research to a monolithic platform tohighlighting the status of current research and to offering aplatform to discuss, and build research collaborative networks.With this clear intention, the following broad sub themes havebeen worked out for the conference
