Bubble Wrap Indian Corn Door DecorationDress up your door with a seasonal arrangement of Indian corn made out of painted bubble wrap, paint, and a raffia bow.

You will need:

• Bubble wrap with 1/4" bubbles (about 7" X 10" sheet)

• Flattened cereal box

• Raffia

• Glue stick, scissors, hole punch

• Tape (masking or Scotch)

• Black pen

• Acrylic craft paint (yellow ochre and other assorted colors of Indian corn—orange, brown, rust, etc.)

• Paintbrush and painting supplies

• Indian corn pattern

Print a picture of the door decoration to show your crafters. Post a copy on your bulletin board to create interest in the activity.

Directions:

1. Cut out a corn pattern. Use a black pen to trace around the pattern three times on the inside of a flattened cereal box. Position the corn shapes side by side.

2. With the bubbles facing up, glue the bubble wrap on top of the traced shapes as shown on the right.

3. Cut out the three ears of corn and paint the bubble wrap with yellow ochre paint.

4. Using a generous amount of paint on a brush, dab assorted colors of paint (orange, yellow, brown, rust) randomly on the bubbles to make a colorful cob of Indian corn. Leave some of the yellow ochre bubbles.

5. Allow the paint to dry for about an hour.

6. Punch a hole in the top center of each ear of corn. Position the hole about 1/2" from the edge.

7. Thread about three long strands of raffia through each hole and tie a knot as shown in the picture on the right.

8. Arrange the corn with the center ear slightly lower than the side ears. Gather all the strands and tie a knot just above the three ears.

9. Angle the side ears outward and tack them in position using a piece of rolled tape sandwiched between the ear on top and the center ear.

10. Tie the loose raffia into a bow and hang your Indian corn on your door.
