Project Title:Heinz Ketchup Typeface

Research Criteria:Research limited to 3 different sizes of Heinz Ketchup.
Target Audience:Marketers at H.J. Heinz Companylocated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Concept:Create a legible, visually appealing typeface out of ketchup.
Solutions:Print the alphabet and 0-9 numbers onto 11x17 sheets of paper and tape them to the bottom of a piece of vinyl and trace over the characters using Heinz Ketchup Squeeze Bottles. Manipulate the ketchup-forms with dental operating tools by “pushing” the ketchup into proper positioning. Once the type creation was complete, photograph each individual character and recreate it digitally using a photography-based character set completed through Photoshop and a vector-based character set using Illustrator.
(Above)Aside from protective glasses, dental tools were used in order to form the ketchup into letterforms.
