'Finesse' the annual day celebration of AlbertianInstitute of Management was held on 26 February

2018. The celebrations were inaugurated by the ChiefGuests Mr. Jibu Jacob (Film Director, Vellimoonga &Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol Fame) and Ms. SophiaM. Joe (Model and Actress). During his Inauguraladdress, Mr. Jibu recollected his college life and hisdesire to be a student of St. Albert's College at thattime. He said that College time is the best time tonurture and develop the artistic talents of oneself.On behalf of Ms. Sophia M. Joe, her father expressedhis concerns over how today's society perceives thedifferently abled and advised the students to be a

good human being before becoming a successfulmanager. Dr. M. L. Joseph, Principal, St. Albert'sCollege, during his presidential address explained theimportance of good character when compared tohealth and wealth. Mr. Jibu Jacob and Ms. Sophia M.Joe gave away the awards for the semester toppers,prizes of various professional club events and alsodistributed the prizes to the winners in the varioussports and games events conducted in connectionwith the annual sports of AIM. Dr. Geo Jos Fernandez,Dean proposed the welcome and Fr. JosephAntony, Student, Final year MBA proposed the voteof thanks.

The first meeting of the Board of Studies in BusinessAdministration of St. Albert's College was held on 06th

February 2018. Eminent academicians and professionalswho are the members of the Board were present to givetheir valuable inputs. The members present included Dr.

Sajoy P. B., Asst. Professor, Sacred Hearts College,Thevara; Shan K. Joseph, Manager, HDFC Bank; Dr. TitusCorreya, Vice-Principal (SF), St. Albert's College and Dr.Tia Mathews, Asst. Professor, St. Albert's College. Thefaculty members of the Dept. were also present.

Budget Talk @ Hotel Renai

The Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry inassociation with the Institute of Cost Accountants

of India, Cochin Chapter organised an Annual PostBudget Analysis on Saturday the 3rd of February 2018.The Speaker at the session was Mr. Homi P. Ranina, whois one of India's foremost Tax Consultants and aneminent Lawyer. In his talk, Mr. Ranina spoke on theintricacies of this year's Union Budget. He explained theimportance of paying tax and supporting theGovernment. Mr. Ranina also added that, Tax is the mainsource of income for a country, and unless the citizenspay their taxes properly, the Government will not be ina position to carry out the developmental workenvisaged. Mr. Ranina touched up on the Insolvency andBankruptcy Code and the issues concerning NPAs. Healso spoke about the changes in the economy with the

introduction of GST. Mr. Ranina said that the IndianEconomy is on the right track to growth and the truebenefits of the changes happening now will be seen inthe years to come. Mr. Nidhin Johny, Asst. Prof., AIMalong with Mr. Nigil Antony and Mr. Fredy Mathews ofSem. IV MBA attented the programme.

in the selection of Taxi Aggregator' in the One dayNational Seminar on 'Insights in Marketing-2018,Marketing Management in Changing Times' held atRajagiri Business School on 2 February 2018.

Dr. Geo Jos Fernandez, Dean of Albertian Institute ofManagement was the resource person for the GroomingSession of MSW students of St. Albert's College on 26th

February 2018. He addressed the students on 'Building apowerful Resume' and on how to 'Perform duringPersonal Interview'.

Dr. Geo Jos Fernandez attended the Interactive Sessionon Union Budget 2018-19: "Critical Analysis and Way Aheadfor Indian Economy" on 05 February 2018 at Hotel AbadPlaza, Kochi which, was organised by Federation of IndianChambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) along with ASA& Associates LLP, Kochi andWorld Trade Centre (WTC), Kochi.

Award to Semester Toppers @ AIM

The fourth semester students were honouredduring Finesse 2018 for their outstanding academic

performance in the first and second semesters. Mr. JibuJacob and Ms. Sophia M. Joe gave away the awards forthe semester toppers. Ms. Sreepriya V R., Ms. Reny

Varghese and Ms. Livya Maria Wilson won the firstthree ranks respectively in the first semester. Ms. DilshaAzeez bagged the first rank,Ms. Reny Varghese thesecond and Ms. Suhana S.S. the third rank in the secondsemester.

Annual Sports @ AIM

Panel Discussion on Union Budget 2018

Albertian Institute of Management and St. Albert'sCollege (Autonomous) organized a panel discussion

on the Union Budget 2018 on 22nd February 2018. Theevent moderated by Mr. C. J. Punnathara (Retd. SubEditor, Business Line) discussed the impact of the UnionBudget on the 6 selected sectors, which wererepresented by eminent personalities from the industry.The agriculture industry was represented by Dr. P. C.Cyriac I.A.S (retd.); The Banking and Finance Sector byMr. Sethumadhavan, Chairman of Xenturion Fintech;

Computer Software and Electronics Industry by Mr. ManiA Pulimood, CEO, Megatrend Systems; Infrastructuresector by Mr. Sunil Chacko, CFO, Cochin InternationalAirport Limited, the taxation sector by Mr. Vivek Govind,Partner, Varma and Varma and a general overview of thebudget was given by the economist, Dr. Titus Correya,Vice Principal, St. Albert's College. Lecture by Mr. Mohamed Parker

Mohamed Parker, Head of InternationalProgrammes-Lancashire School of Business and

Enterprise, University of Central Lancashire, UKdelivered an activity based session on "Challenges ofrunning a successful Business" on 27th February 2018.The aim of the lecture was to make students aware of

how to run a successful business and the importance ofBusiness strategy/planning to the success of thebusiness. In his activity, he asked the students to imaginethemselves as the finance manager and to set price fora product based on various information given where thestudent groups had to take action and give decisions.

Women Entrepreneurs at AIM

Albertian Institute witnessed the presence of 5Women Entrepreneurs on 21st February 2018 to

mentor the students on Entrepreneurship skills. Thepanellists for the session were well knownentrepreneurs, Ms. Sheeja Jaimon, Managing Director,Sheejas IT Mall; Ms. Nimmi J. Chakola of ChakolasDecorette; Ms. Sheela Matthai, Managing Director ofGraduate Overseas; Ms. Marian Paul of Acecorp LegalConsultancy and Ms. Sumitha Sudhakar P., CEO of MBOand the Global Marketing Head for Sands Infra Group,India's largest IT Park in Smart city. Citing their

experiences, the different entrepreneurs emphasized onthe need for strong will power to face challenges andfight against adversities as the most important qualityto become successful entrepreneurs. The session was anenriching experience for the students.

Finnese 2018 @ AIM how this year's budget will affect their industry bothpositively and negatively and what could have beenincluded in this budget to add value to it. The event wassponsored by the Federal Bank and the associatepartners for the event was Kerala ManagementAssociation and Kerala Merchants Chamber ofCommerce.

Nodal Officers Meet

Dr. Shiny C. M., participated in a design thinkingworkshop for the nodal officers organised by Kerala

Startup Mission at MES, Marampilly on 12th and 13th

February. The workshop was conducted aiming atdeveloping practical and innovative solutions and alsoinsights into the Design Engineering. Design Thinking isa human-focused, prototype-driven process forinnovation. It was really rewarding to see how, using theworkshop case studies, every group had a differentthought especially around which user personas toapproach and how to approach with different empathytools to gather insights in comparison with the normalshallow level troubleshooting and solutioning.

Industrial Visit

The second year students of AIM were taken to FACTfor an industrial visit. The day started with a safety

brief by the staff followed by visits to various otherfacilities in the complex. Company officials took thestudents around and showed them how various

activities are done in the plant. It was an afternoonwell spent for the students as they got an opportunityto see the colossal plant and the processes associatedwith it. Mr. Nidhin Johny, Asst professor, AIMaccompanied the students

The sports day at Albertian Institute of managementwas held on 17.02.2018. Various events were held

as part of the sports day. The different events held onthe day were the 100 metres sprint for boys and girls,

chess, caroms, shot put and Discus throw for both boysand girls. The cricket match that was held between thesenior and junior girls was won by the senior team. Ms.Nayana Vinod was the woman of the match.
