Bloom’s Taxonomy
The Old vs. the New
Bloom’s Taxonomy
• A guide to consider when evaluating the cognitive demands of each lesson/activity.
• Revised in 2001 to reflect refined thinking in the field and to begin to connect with 21st Century skills.
• Revisions are significant: Can be used to describe the cognitive demand of learning. The change in the highest levels is critical when planning for instruction and assessing the level of the standards themselves.
• Consider the level of questioning and the academic use of vocabulary.
